To me his stick handling and decision making outside of the crease was what bother me the most about his play - Dkos
Yeah, his play outside of the crease was never anywhere close to Price level.

just basing it on what is out there in terms of the Russians. Carson I do not see as an nhl goalie. didn't like that pick at all.
dont see Sam as an everyday nhl starter at this time. the ivan who the hell knows. - hello it's me 2050
Big year for Bjarnason … I’m not sold on him yet… hard because his team in front of him is brutal.

Gene Hart was the voice of my childhood. Philly has been blessed with really great announcers and Gene was one of the best. - mickel25
Well said! I remember listening to the games on my little radio when forced to go to bed with Gene Hart and Don Earle. He brought the games to life and was a fun guy to talk to. I met him a couple of times and he was such a nice guy to the fans.
One of my favorite Gene Hart moments was so simple yet it just always stuck out in my mind. Flyers weee playing Edmonton in the 80’s and just so dead-pan as the Oilers began to breakout of their zone, the puck went to Gretzky and Hart says “and here comes Superman”. So many great calls.
Good night and good hockey.
We miss ya Gene |

who has more upside do you think, the guy son the flyers roster or Askarov? - hello it's me 2050
I really don’t know anything about askarov. My comment was more of a sarcastic snipe at gmdb passing on Zeev |

I generally trust the Preds more when evaluating goalies and d-men.

If the rumors are true about Kuznetsov, are the Canes a top contender still? |

What are the rumors? Kusnetsov at this stage in his career is not the piece that takes someone over the hump regardless. The canes took a step back this off season. |

Probably good news for the Canes if it frees up his cap space.

I know that its his home but I can't believe given Russia's current state that its an appealing option to return there. |

Russia's current state is probably fine. Ukraine is where all the trouble is. St. Petersburg is pretty far from there.

Do you think they ban guns after a bullied lunatic had easy access to a rifle for an assassination attempt ? |

Not a chance they will ever be matched, not in our lifetime - wcorvette
Philly has been lucky in general for their announcers.
First off - Merrill Reese has earned his spot amongst those guys. He’s at what, 44 years calling the games? Appreciate every year left we have left of that great career.
Also, Marc Zumoff is very good.
And no, L. A. and Franzke aren’t Whitey and Harry, but they are damn good if you’re listening in on the radio. |

I think they’ll get some good gun role models so those bad guns don’t be shootin’ up folks.

One memory of Gene Hart that sticks in my mind is when, during a game I think in the early- to mid-80's, there was a big brawl, resulting in both teams' penalty boxes being stuffed with players. Then, at a certain point, a number of penalties expired, and several players returned to the ice at the same time, and Gene hummed the tune of "Parade of the Teddy Bears" as they came out. |
