Really hoping for no retention. Devoting 2.5 mil per for the next few years to have trouba not play here is rough for our chances.
But I also get that we probably won't love the deal no matter what the return ends up being. |

Holl would get bought you’d think. Maatta could be possible too - Slimtj100

Did you guys see this?
Devils traded Alexander Holtz (former 7th overall pick) and Akira Schmid to the Golden Knights for Paul Cotter and a 3rd round pick. |

Still though. Keep him or trade and retain, t's rough either way. Best outcome for us would have been he just didn't decline this much and could be a top 4 dman these next 2 years. |

Its not ideal, but clearing 6m of cap space is a big deal for us. That 6m can be used to get a 1st line RW. No one is going to take an 8m contract on a declining player. |

I have serious doubts about these trade rumors involving Trouba and Detroit.
First, consider the source: Brooks hasn't had much accuracy in recent history.
Second, consider the 2 GMs involved. Both Drury and Yzerman are known for being tight lipped. All of the moves involving Drury ( besides Kane ) did anybody anticipate?
The thought that there was a "leak" involving these 2 particular GMs: not likely.
I fully realize that this post may not age well, but I'm of the opinion that Trouba may get dealt --- just not to Detroit. We shall see.... |

It's not just Brooks. Elliot Friedman live at the draft today says he can see it going down today. |

Brooks definitely reads this site. Think about how long we've been throwing around the idea of Trouba to Detroit because that where home is. How long we've been saying that it will likely take retention of 2 million or so to facilitate the trade.
Its not the first time someone here has noticed Brooks basically reposting things we've talked about on here. |

I don't agree about Brooks being inaccurate. Quite the opposite. Elliotte Friedman has said numerous times he believes Brooks is very plugged in to the NYR org, and that he always reads his articles and believes it when Brooks says something. And more to your point, I don't actually remember the last time he reported something that was off base with regard to the Rangers. He's good at his job.
Doesn't mean that every trade or move being discussed ends up happening, but I feel fairly confident it's being seriously discussed if Larry and EF are reporting it. They aren't some random internet blog surfing insiders. |

But it does seem kind of ironic seeing some of the stuff he writes and people noticing its stuff we talk about here. |

Brooks thinks igors camp Wants around 12.9 million per so Drury should look to move him if they can’t agree lol - TPC
Well poop. Was really hoping he'd see the way it's been going here with him and Hank and take a team friendly 10.5 M deal or something. |

Honestly, I love Shesty more than anyone. But if he's really looking for almost 13, I'd have to say we need to have the conversation about how the goaltender fits into a cup winning roster. Because having him and Hank clearly hasn't worked, even with Shesty at his bargain deal. |

Have to think Shesty may be our biggest trade chip currently. But honestly I'm not even sure how the league values superstar goalies, cuz they never get moved and the position has changed so much. All I'm saying is before we dole out 13 mil for 8 years to a goalie that plays 55 games per year, that conversation should be had. |

Trade him. No goalie is worth 14+% of your cap. |
