Should be a good year to move up, multiple teams like Ottawa, buffalo, Utah, all looking for immediate help and open to trade their pick. |

yes though not sure I see fit a for the flyers and those teams. Knowing the flyers are reluctant to trade their "core" players.
Buff - been smoke around laughton for while; will take much more than him for the 11th obviosuly. TK is more of a want than need for buff imo. Joel +? possibly
sens - seems to be smoke there as well. will have to give to get. do the flyers want to give? maybe a frost or Joel ++?
utah- sanheim would be a good fit. he has a no NMC. would also need to add to get the 6th pick.
we shall see what hapens in the next 2/3 weeks. |

We still have Torts and Nic D to fill the time - Glak18
And Lappy will inherit Torts seat if he quits, gets fired, or won't extend. 🥳 |

Briere's comments about prospects needing lots of time in Junior and benefitting from years in the AHL sound exactly like what Hextall used to say. - Feanor
It's important to continue the nomansland mediocre path. |

Torts is moving on up in the Org when and however his coaching career with the Flyers ends. He's the face of the org.

Slim chance this would happen but for those opposed to moving 12 for some reason. What about using 12 in a package to move up to 6 or 7. Then another package to get 11 from Buffalo? Use the higher pick on D and then get Catton or Helenius at 11.
You’d probably be giving up TK, Farabee, Laughton, and the Florida pick at a minimum to accomplish this.
There’s a good chance that staying at 12 leaves them drafting a winger. The D plus Catton and Helenius could very easily be gone by 11. Which in that scenario, a trade back becomes likely. |

If they’re getting a future #1D at 7 anything that’s been rumored would be a steal in the long run. I don’t understand the hesitation to trading TK, Farabee, Laughton, etc. these guys haven’t changed the direction of the Flyers so why are we treating them like they’re some sacred piece to a future cup run? - Schmojo
I’m with ya. If they can get #7 and a guy that becomes their #1 D….it’s a no brainer. One step back…3 steps forward tomorrow. |

Exactly, they’ll need to use a good roster player to move up. In theory that should make them worse next season which should lead to another high pick. Maybe they luck into Hagans, but there are several top centers in the ‘25 draft to address their lack of C depth. |

When did you become such an a-hole. I thought you were cool.
BTW: since when has a third line player helped a team move up 32-11= 21 spots? - coffee junkie

Actual quote from the GM about how Lappy earned the extension:
"Development is critical, where we're at. Lappy's been part of this organization, understands this organization, he understands what our fans want and need. You know, and he's been one of those guys, he was I think he was a seventh round pick... he might get mad at me if he was lower than that. But ah, you know he had to fight for everything, he earned everything throughout his career. To have a guy like that, he can walk into a room as a coach and look at someone and say, you know what, that next shot - you better get on your knees and stop it with your face, cause he's done it."
Doomed. - Feanor
Briere actually said this?
This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard one of our GMs say. And look at our former GMs. Ugh.
Every day I’m inching closer to becoming a Devils fan. I swear. |

My only issue is I really don't believe Catton is going to slip out of the top 10 like some mocks have it, a reverse Shane Wright I see.
Legal notice: No I am not saying Catton is going #1

Flyers have the framework set to land...
#4, #6, #7 and #11 then package them ALL for Seth Jones.

I view cheering for another team as a non starter for me…in my 5th decade of being a fan. I’ve been here longer than DB….then Jonesy…and a hell of a lot longer than Torts. I’m pretty sure I will still be a fan long after they are gone…it won’t be me going anywhere it will be them. |

I think it’s Sabres rattling for some of these guys….but if a team is desperate enough then why not dangle the pick? |

Maybe Briere is trying to pull off a Burkey...I believe it was Burke who masterminded the Vancouver trade to land both Sedins.
Maybe he is trying to put together 2 brothers from a different Russian mother....

Yakemchuk is a wild card to me. It sounds more and more somebody is going to take him top 10, even though I wouldn’t. My guess is the top 9 is some order of:
Celebrini
Levshunov
Silayev
Lindstrom
Demidov
Buium
D*ckinson
Parekh
Yakemchuk
That leaves Catton and Helenius to go 10 & 11. I know some people are high on Iginla and Sennecke. One or both of those 2 would need to jump up in order for Catton and Helenius to be there.
One scenario that will be interesting to see is if Demidov and Lindstrom go top 4. What does MTL do at that point. Everything coming from them says they’d take Iginla or Sennecke. |

Interesting. I’m looking at their roster and I don’t see a lot of glaring holes. (Maybe they need one more vet Center?) They’re probably content taking BPA and just fishing for an overpayment. |

It looks like Briere is trying to thread the needle of getting a #1 Dman first- Buium, D!ckinson, or Silayev, then come back and get Catton and Helenius. It's bold, if it means to move players on the roster so be it. The only guy on the roster who I really do not want to move is Foerster. I like York, but if he needs to be moved to draft a possible #1 Dman, so be it.

The amount of possibilities are crazy depending how every team thinks. I could easily say "This is my list and this is who will be available". All it takes is one significant change to alter the order.
Personally Silayev and Lindstrom are both longer developing cycles to me. The team who takes either I believe has to be patient. How many people were righting off Byfield? I think Lindstrom is going to take longer. Both players high rankings are based on size and "IF" they can put it together with that size. That's way different than needs to work on skating or defensive game.
Like you said with Montreal, if Demidov and Lindstrom get taken in the top 4 I believe they take Catton then.

I highly doubt the team will be transformed in one offseason, but one thing is certain with this new era when names start hitting the rumors they tend to be moved elsewhere. There's no way to move 8-10 guys in a week, but I think it the next 3-6 months at least 3 of the names will be moved.
What scares me is what replaces them.

Well, I always look at how many players on a second contract or more currrently on the roster will be here when the team becomes Cup contenders. I think a high number would be 4 players. I expect Briere to purge the roster some more between now and before free agency. I think he will, and it probably ends up guys like Frost, York, and Farabee will be gone besides the usual suspects. |

Do not see any roster purge at all. Not even a partial one.
Maybe they move out Frost and Farabee because the coach seems to have soured on both.
Until proven otherwise they like the veteran core they have and think they are instrumental to help win going forward. |
