No to Laine. Headcases aren’t Yzermans fortay.
Personally I’d love to see a trade up into the top 10. Husso and #15 for #10 (Jerseys 1st)? |

Honest ask, is Laine dealing with substance stuff (anyone chime in). Depression/mental issues are always tough, in pro sports I can’t even imagine. I hope he finds a fresh start. Utah has so much space and can probably get a pick.
It’s going to be hard to move up for Detroit. Husso may be on LTIR. There’s a lot of debate on what he actually needs. Wants to avoid surgery but that could turn into a Vrana situation where he ends up getting it anyway at the start of the season. |

That Gabe is a big dude at 6'4", 213 lbs. Swede, PPG in his 5th NCAA season.
Is he soft like Solderblom?
I really wanna see how he plays. |

It seems like the team wants him to adjust to the pro game. Unless I’m mistaken, by doing an AHL contract he’d have to do a PTO then go through waivers to get to the NHL. Soderblom has to come in swinging (opinion) for a shot at the bottom 6 in Detroit. Mazur made some nice defensive plays, even as a smaller guy wasn’t shy to mix it up. |

Laine did not buy a snake farm, did he? If not, and he took care of his problem, then a rebuilding team should take a stab at this reclamation project. Wings need a scoring winger, and 2 yrs at about $5.5M would be where Laine's salary should be unless CBJ takes the full Holl contract and another salary (Fabbri?) and a 2nd........I have to think on that one. 🤔 |

Has Fabbri's play been this bad, or just a difficult season.

Not too sure about the Laine personal stuff all I know is that he’s a headcase and to steer clear of that. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze.
Utah seems like a nice spot for Laine.
Was unaware of the drama surrounding Husso.
Hard to find mentally stable goalies these days - seems Russia and America are still capable of putting out reliable goalies.
Will be interesting to see the Jersey goalie situation played out at the least.
Would love to snag one of those young defensemen in the top 10.
With the Husso situation it sounds like we might be looking for a goalie this off-season???

I get your line of thought but Yzerman doesn’t like headcases. Wings need a lot more than just a scoring winger. Stay patient.

Fabbri is a solid middle 6 scoring winger. The issue is he’s had so many serious knee injuries. Never know when he might miss 4-6 months. |

If he avoids guys that enjoy a nose beer or two he wouldn’t have too large of a pool of players to pick from - Feds91Stammer
This is an unfortunate truth. The Athletic did a write up on this with veteran players “anonymously” talking about a resurgence in the younger generation. It isn’t banned, you can find articles from 2013 forward fairly easily that talk about “league consideration” of banning the substance. It is banned by the IIHF so players have to “dry out” before international contests. If you’re old enough you remember instances that hit the media for Detroit and even the documentary “The Boys on the Bus” had mention of news reports but it was denied that it could be true by the coaching staff. PM me if you want any links but it’s a simple search |

Husso just has an injury. He tried to rehab it but it took about a minute of pregame ice to reaggrivate. Should probably just go ahead and pick the best surgical option (opinion) |

A lot of things are heresay. Once Vrana was figured out he was sidelined until traded.
A leopard can’t change its spots.
I think Laine is already known to have these issues and because of that I would assume, whether I’m right or wrong, that Yzerman would not bite. Just my opinion of course.
If you look at Kasper, Seider, Danielson and Edvinsson they are all “straight edge” and high in character/intangibles. Raymond is on the edge but I think he’s been around straight edge guys in the organization and has found some stability with that.
Steve knows what he’s doing and with that I don’t really get caught up in silly topics and discussions.
If it was Dubas or someone equivalent I’d be overly worried but a majority of the reason I became a Red Wings fan was because Yzerman is an excellent decision maker and understands how to build a winning culture and getting the right pieces to get them to the contend. You could argue that he’s not great at completing the puzzle with what took place in Tampa but he knows how to build a winning culture and I believe he will correct the ship.

Nothing wrong with recreational activities, however, the problem becomes different when it is addiction. Addiction is different from recreational, just a heads up.
Everything in moderation. Addiction shows a severe mental issue that will have ripple effects which is where you need to establish whether he will be toxic or a benefit to the locker room, I see Laine as toxicity and has a severe lack of professionalism and immaturity. |

Unlucky for him, but wonder if Fitz would bite on him? Would be a low cost option, however, Markstrom and possibly Gibson would be much better suited for a “#1 goalie” role.
Time will tell. I’d love to grab one of those defensemen though. |

I’ll push back on the nose beverage along with spoon related stuff. Especially now, it’s being cut with fentanyl at the “pure” level. While you can cite the benefits of C-n-bis related treatments, from start to finish sugar is a bad deal. From farmers threatened to grow to the cutting/distribution worldwide to heart disease even with “moderate” use. I have one nephew born addicted, one perished family member, and a multiple term felon all deep in the business in the family. There is not a happy ending to that substance |

Yeah, he got a pretty good glimpse at that world when we all did via probert. The NHLPA pushes to keep it non banned and the NHL follows suit. Nothing will change until they decide to change it |

What does a potential Patrik Laine scenario look like?
It looks to me a lot like the Jakub Vrana debacle in Detroit and St. Louis. But Yzerman has had a track record of repeating the same mistakes with bad contracts these days, so who knows? Maybe he’ll take a flyer on him. |

Sorry to hear about the calamity. I’ve lost numerous friends and acquaintances from the stuff. The fentanyl/drug pandemic isn’t getting any light in the media meanwhile it’s taking over town by town.
I have faith in Yzerman to make the right choice. And if he fails he will learn from it, so either way I’m grateful that he’s in the GM position and not any of us. People need to be patient in a rebuild.

What are you giving up for Laine?
I’d give up the 15th pick and Holl. Nothing more than that.
