The Flyers need to build a base. You have Michkov. If you move Konecny and Laughton you have those pieces. You have 2 first this year and next.
All those pieces can be the start of a base. Maybe Farabee and York are part of that.
But they need to put a base together and then build out from that. Not sure why people aren't understanding that.
Keeping Konecny at this point is does nothing to help that in my eyes. He is a nice piece and will probably function nicely but doesn't do anything to move you forward. - J35Bacher
flyers think they have that base: tk ex selke Sanheim laughton seeler.......just need to add |

My opinion is that by the time the Flyers are ready, Konecny on an 8 year deal at 9-9.5 will be a cap anchor (lets say yrs 5,6,7,8) preventing them from doing something that could equate to adding the final piece.

All this talk about TK, whether to keep him or trade him. The rumors are somewhere between $9-10 million. TK is a really good player. But someone who wants to keep him, please make the case for why this soon to be 28 year old deserves an 8 year contract where the AAV would be up there with Eichel, Barkov, Fox and Tkachuk? Hes not even close to the caliber of these guys in terms of value. Please make the case. |

Yeah. I am resigned to Couturier staying. It would not be an easy deal to make and I think he can help as your bring in those young guys unless he asks out. Seeler I am ok now that he is signed as a 3rd pairing d guy as you bring in younger guys. Plus he is more of a deterrent on the ice then Desluariers is because he can actually play.
Konecny, Sanheim, Laughton should all be moved if possible. I know Sanheim has a no trade protection but I think he would waive for a chance to win.

he is signed as a top 4 on the flyers.
even if ex selke ask out no one is touching that contract until they see how this year goes. |

Has to be right now. I have Sanheim, York, Seeler and Drysdale as my top 4. Not sure I see the fit with Zamula and Drysdale. Plus he kills penalties.
I get what your saying though. Kind of why i think it's two years are NTC. I know it's a 4 year deal but i get the sense it is 2 years and then we will see after that as they could look to move him then if they have defenseman coming in.

seeler could also be the type that falls of a cliff. he looked bad when he came back after his injury.
unless he keeps up his level of play can't see many teams taking on that salary in 2 years. |

We should all start sending Sanheim brochures from Salt Lake City to entice him to request a trade there. He’s the kind of player that would make sense for Utah, as would Laughton. |

Yeah. I mean I don't love the deal but I am not going to die on it either. I was hoping for something like two years. The cap could keep going up so maybe if they need to bury it in years 3-4 it becomes an option.

That’s a fair approach. I just keep telling myself that Seeler is a flexible place holder while the Flyers develop LHD to pair with Drysdale. His PK value is apparent and other than the term, the price isn’t ridiculous. |

because you collect assets when you are in the position the flyers are in then find the next seeler to pump and ump until you're a contender.
why would you give a ntc to guys of seelers ilk? it is fn mind boggling. - hello it's me 2050
what meaningful assets are you getting for those guys? you act as though we are leaving anything significant on the table by keeping them.
maybe its a guarantee we can give him in order to take a lesser number or to go 4 years instead of 5 years? if it makes the player happy and we didn't really plan on trading him in those 2 years anyway what difference does it make? they like the player. you don't, we get it.

Yes, Celebrini is the projected top pick, but he is IMO far from a sure bet to be a franchise NHL player. - jd250
The conversation was about potential picks who are a sure bet to be a top-line player.
Nobody was talking about franchise players.

Like I said. I don't love it but I am not overly going to kill it. I was more worried about them resigning Walker to a bad number and term.
Like Poehling. I don't love it but I can live with it IF they move Laughton. I feel those guys are kind of redundant now. Plus you still have Cates who is similar.
Kind of why I said someone like Kalyev in LA would be interesting. His shot brings something that lacks with some of the players on our roster. He brings a different element in my eyes.

When exactly should these players have been made available? Sean Walker and Nick Seeler both surpassed expectations in season while we were winning. In fact nobody knew Seeler would be the league’s leading shot blocker and nobody knew what Sean Walker would be heading into season at all. By just acquiring Sean Walker last June, you would have had to sell low on both players. Sean Walker doesn’t bring us a first round pick if he didn’t player here. - roenick97
Sean Walker didn't bring us a first round pick though. By himself, he would have gotten a second at best. |

omg
bottom line is you don't get it or just don't want to get it. You take the mid rd picks and move on. several ways to then use those picks. this is a very simple concept.
Do you have a better chance to find a nhl level player with a 3rd rd pick or no pick in the nhl draft?
no they don't like the player. They love the player. he is a flyer through and though. reminds them of the good old days.
where did i say I do not like seeler? I am one who has given him his due the last 2 years. |

Not offended. I like this leadership group and I am rooting for them to succeed. I think they have done a good job so far and have been honest as much as they can be with the fans. I spoke to a Flyers fan just last night at an event who lives close to Philly and he echoed this sentiment. This leadership group is getting this franchise back on track. There is a general excitement around the Flyers and people are talking about them. I think all the negativity towards them on this forum is unfounded and downright unfair. - jd250
Then go to reddit. They match your view of Torts and the gang...you would fit right in.

Poehling in a vacuum isn't a problem.
Extending Poehls knowing Torts can't help but use him as a 1C and in 3v3 OT is a problem. |

Common, Danny would lose any power struggle against Torts. |
