Friedman saying Buffalo 11 in play for top 6 forward. If they do the dumb thing an extend Konecny, would you offer Farabee?
Just a question. I actually like Farabee but curious what others think. - J35Bacher
I wouldn't. That would give the Flyers cause to fill that hole and over pay for some 30+year old hoser. |

Chuck and Flahr made solid but not spectacular 1st round picks in Minnesota. It was after the 1st round where they were not very good. - Minnyhock
They've been solid drafters in my opinion. Excellent is of course, hyperbole

Still not as bad as taking Jay O'Brien over K'Andre Miller at 19. - J35Bacher
I watched K’Andre play in high school. He was a converted forward so I think some teams may have used that to make a “safer” pick.

His record here post-1st isn't looking great so far either. |

He didn’t really have an eye for spotting underrated or under the radar guys that the great ones see. Like many ordinary GMs, Brayden Point wasn’t on his radar.

Wasn't the story that Flahr/Fletch liked Point and Belpedio equally so they traded their pick to Tampa lol?
God I'm so glad they doubled down and brought Belpedio here with them.

I think Briere should extend Konecny, as long as they can find a good number. TK is a home grown player, he was draft and developed by the Flyers. What kind of message does it send to the rest of the players and the league that the Flyers refused to pay an all-star and home grown player? TK is not a $10M/yr player but I think there is a number and term that both sides can agree upon that will set TK for life. We need good players on this team, you can't trade everyone for draft picks which are nothing more than lottery tickets. - jd250
That they are doing the right thing and rebuilding, instead of throwing more money and term on a player that doesn't fit the current teams position. |

I’m really happy with cam York so far. He’s our best, most consistent defenseman. Could be a leader of this group moving forward. |

There will likely be a few top-end players scattered amongst the first 15-20 picks but there are no guarantees or sure bets outside of Celebrini.
If you have the Flyers' recent track record you'd be lucky to even come out with a player as good as Farabee. - Tomahawk
Exactly why they shouldn't package a pick plus to move up. Take BPA at 12 and 31/32 and move on.
If you could trade Farabee for a top 10 pick, I'd do it. |

Agreed - and there is more there I believe. Going to be fun watching him develop over the years.

I am sticking at 12 in this draft.

Point was marvelously skilled but his skating needed work and he was undersized. There is a story out there that another team passed on Point because they didn’t like his force plate results at the combines.

I don't agree.
A good GM has the forward thinking to understand where his team is. Konecny, Laughton, Walker, Seeler, should have all been made available. No matter how good this year went, you’re not building for this year, or even next year. You need to plan for 3-4 years out. - J35Bacher
When exactly should these players have been made available? Sean Walker and Nick Seeler both surpassed expectations in season while we were winning. In fact nobody knew Seeler would be the league’s leading shot blocker and nobody knew what Sean Walker would be heading into season at all. By just acquiring Sean Walker last June, you would have had to sell low on both players. Sean Walker doesn’t bring us a first round pick if he didn’t player here. |

Briere on TK extension:
If there's something, we would like to make it happen to keep him a Flyer for the rest of his career," Briere said. "We'd be excited with that.
This tells me the two sides are not close. I don't think it's a slam dunk TK gets extended. Later on in the same article Briere states regarding having as many as 10 picks in the upcoming draft:
"We're looking at every option," he said. "It gives us the chance to maybe be open-minded to being creative with something different."
I like it!

players like Seeler, Cates and Poehling are the type of players where, when we see them night in and night out, I can see their value. But they are under the radar for other teams so you’re not going to get much in a trade. |

But who says TK doesn't fit the current team's position? Why doesn't he? Why does every rebuild take several years in people's minds? Rebuilding does not equate to jettison every good player a team has, it just doesn't. |

I just don’t understand how anyone can say “Walker should have been available right away”. You mean the throw-in of the Provorov trade as a salary dump because he was having trouble staying healthy? Playing Walker was the only option until the deadline., |

so, for people who have a job as a scout they are under the radar?
they are 4th line and 3rd pair dman. They can be found every summer.

Or, TK is going to ask for the moon on both term and aav. If I am TK I want to get paid and I want to win. What has this organization done in his time here to actually win? They have been pretty abysmal. If I am TK I want to win and cash out. He owes nothing to the Flyers and I doubt there will be any discount from his side. - Flyfly
He may ask for the sun and the moon and that is TKs right, however it does not mean he will get it, especially from Briere. |

Celebrini is the surest bet in this draft. Flahr wasn’t an excellent drafter in Minnesota and I don’t see it in Philly. He’s decent maybe a little better but excellent is a reach. - Minnyhock
Yes, Celebrini is the projected top pick, but he is IMO far from a sure bet to be a franchise NHL player. |
