I think Briere should extend Konecny, as long as they can find a good number. TK is a home grown player, he was draft and developed by the Flyers. What kind of message does it send to the rest of the players and the league that the Flyers refused to pay an all-star and home grown player? TK is not a $10M/yr player but I think there is a number and term that both sides can agree upon that will set TK for life. We need good players on this team, you can't trade everyone for draft picks which are nothing more than lottery tickets. - jd250
Or, TK is going to ask for the moon on both term and aav. If I am TK I want to get paid and I want to win. What has this organization done in his time here to actually win? They have been pretty abysmal. If I am TK I want to win and cash out. He owes nothing to the Flyers and I doubt there will be any discount from his side. |

that matters why?
send a great message. they will not cave to demands. shows they will embrace a real rebuild instead of keep kicking the can down the road.
he already set for life. |

Firstly, Celebrini is far from a sure bet and secondly, Flahr has demonstrated that he is an excellent drafter. - jd250
Celebrini is the surest bet in this draft. Flahr wasn’t an excellent drafter in Minnesota and I don’t see it in Philly. He’s decent maybe a little better but excellent is a reach.

laughable. what has shown to warrant this high praise while running the flyers draft?

sure but not in a silo, other moves have to be made and the number needs to be one that can be traded. All that only if they are not receiving value for TK in the offers they are receiving. - wcorvette
so if they dont get value for a tk trade then just re-sign him? that is such flawed logic. |

I don't think Utah is going to give up their 1st pick unless there is a serious overpay. They just moved to Utah and are most likely keeping the pick. - Flyfly
But the owner gave the FO marching orders to win. I think that puts the pick in play. Utah ownership wants to make a splash. That’s not to say they will give the pick away, but there could be a “wow” factor if the commish says “we have a trade to announce” and Utah ends up with an immediate impact player or players. Can the Flyers offer such a package? Maybe but it would prolly be an overpay. |

As long as he stays healthy he's a slam dunk 1st-line player. |

IMO they’ll kick the can down the road. They’ll make a call on him after seeing how they start.

Again, my concern is it's not a strategy to wait for players to fall to you at 12. I really hope the Flyers are aggressive and get a top player in this draft they target. They have enough draft capital and other assets to do it. - jd250
Of course it's a strategy. Teams do it every year.

Or Utah. I think they already have a lot of prospects and young players, they want to move forward quickly I would think given they are moving to a new city and want to energize their new fanbase. But it comes down to how Flahr and his scouts evaluate the tiers in this draft. If the top tier is maybe 3 or 4 players deep and the then next tier of player is 8-10 players deep, the Flyers might decide to stand pat. - jd250
Are you saying then that it could be a strategy to wait for a player to fall to you at 12? Short period of time for that reversal. Might be a record.

Paul Fenton was a bad choice as a GM. But his 1st pick ever selecting Boldy was a great move.

The 6th pick in a defenseman heavy draft is not going to move the needle for them and excite their fanbase. They want to be good quickly and unless they are drafting Makar, and there are no Makars in this draft, they are going to want to use the assets they have to get good players and contend much sooner than later. At lease that is what I think they would want to do. - jd250
This is far more likely to be what you want versus what Utah wants.

I would trade Farabee for the 11th pick if one of the players I have targeted is there. It depends on how the dominos fall. - jd250
Why would Buffalo trade the 11th overall pick for a player that you deem is okay with okay skill? |

Meanwhile Chuck and the "excellent drafter" thought it would be cute to trade down from #11 while a top talents like Boldy and Caufield were still on the board. |

Who cares what message it sends. It is the best move for the teams future. Trading Konecny and Laughton is not trading everyone. You claim you need top picks. Would trade Farabee for the 11th overall pick. Now they're nothing more than lottery picks. You're a walking contradiction. |

Still not as bad as taking Jay O'Brien over K'Andre Miller at 19.

I'm really torn if i'm giving them until the season or TDL to trade AT LEAST one of those guys or i'm printing my mocked up Philadelphia LIARS shirts. |

Chuck and Flahr made solid but not spectacular 1st round picks in Minnesota. It was after the 1st round where they were not very good.

If the Flyers actually rebuilt and planned for 3,4 years down the road, they would have no issues bring in a free agents when ready. |
