Transparently. But he thinks no one can see that.

when you are a bottom team there is zero need to have that type of money spent on a 4th line. use your 4th line to evaluate players.
me if overpaying at least let it be for a top line or even top 6 type. flyers almost always over pay on the slug types. - hello it's me 2050
the reality is they are trying to win during the Coots/TK/Sanheim era, TK and Sanheim being in their prime, Coots as your crusty old captain. you may not like it but you need to come to terms with that.
i've said this before, whether it's the front office or the guys on the ice - they want to win with their guys. they'd rather lose their way than win your way. it's just the way it is
so they are hoping for big seasons from Drysdale and Ersson. they are expecting big things from Michkov. they are going to the fill in the blanks from there once some money comes of the books. that all being said - if that's their route - i like those 2 on the 4th line.
they aren't going to strip it bare and tank. it is what it is.

then say it that and do something to try to "win". make moves in that direction. they are failing.
If they said we are trying to win with this group, I could except easily. Don't agree but at least it is a plan.

I am not asking for that. I just want them to make informed, modern NHL focused decisions. Trading TK and Laughton is smart and prudent based on the teams current situation. It does not in any way point towards the Flyers tanking.

Not that I like it but this is the reality. As I have said multiple times: this is a "rebuild" in name only. Nothing more than marketing to get fans excited. You can read the tea leaves and see the brass are waiting on cap relief and MM. When he comes over & the cap relief arrives the wheeling and dealing will begin. We have been here before so why would it work this time?

In my opinion, the Flyers hired Jones because no serious candidate would take the job when informed of the triumvirate and how the POHO would not have full oversight and would just be one member of the "co-equal branches of government". - MJL
With the constant front office carousel I can’t see how any serious candidate would want the Flyers job. Adding in Torts on top of that. Yeah, they only set themselves up for yes men like Jones and Briere.
Who will be next? Simmonds and Brian Elliott?😂 |

It was always a rebrand. Not a rebuild. Many bought it and still do.

It blows my mind that people still have season tickets to this circus. I wish people would cut off already. Nothing else is ever going to get thru to this ownership. |

"Strip it bare" is a strawman argument. They haven't even traded Laughton. They extended a 31 year old 3rd pairing dman for four years, and are talking about bringing back a 36 year old #7.

Danny Briere, 2007. That’s 17 years ago. - mikeyo27
Even that one got bought out in the end.
And in hindsight with Carter/Richards ready to step up they really should have spent all that money on D instead. |

Exactly, another Era just like the old Era. Trying to thread the needle is going to require a lot of luck.
One thing I keep wondering is if they have the PP meeting yet. Bringing in all those old players to try and right the ship. I would love to be a fly on the wall in that conference room.

The best part is they brought in Billy King and his agency to vet the process and came away with Jonesy.

Then you really have to question not only their ability to build a winner, but also their sanity. In no reality is that possible. I just can't believe they actually watch NHL games and believe they can win anything building around those players.
If they think they are going to fill it out by signing big time Free agents when the cap space becomes available, it may work in the short term. But when those deals inevitable age badly, Thier window will close much quicker than it should and they will be right back to being an aging team with a bunch of bad contracts, capped out, without the ability to draft top talent. And they still wont be good enough to win the cup.
Yes it is a broken record, but it's also the truth. |

Now we are getting somewhere. So they’d rather try and fail their way than win another way.
Keep following the logic. Why is their thinking this way. What is the influence? And was there an individual that at least tried to excise that influence like the festering wound that it is? |

They will end up wasting the entirety of MM's prime, like they did Giroux's.

This is the frustrating part…next they will pay their future 2nd line RW like he’s a franchise centre…but hey…why should we complain or call it out? |

There is no way Giroux would return to this poop show.

Sarcasm. I don't think the Flyers would bring him back and I don't think he would want to come back.
