I think it's pretty clear and I've been resistant to this idea. The Flyers are manufacturing and selling a fictitious product. With advertising and propaganda filled with buzz words and attempting to cater to the typical Flyers fan. The majority of which are dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to the Flyers. Especially the one fan who Hilferty claims came up to him on the street to kiss his ass and thanked him for everything they've done. If that person even exists. If he/she does, then Hilferty walked away thinking, "another satisfied customer" - MJL
Dan Hilferty, a man of the common people. He is just out there on a daily basis commingling with us proles. |

I am already prepared to be disappointed.
First, Konecny should not be extended, but alas the "great minds" of the Flyers will do so.
Laughton should be moved at the draft, but alas it probably won't happen because of this thing called "culture".
Deslauriers should be sent to Lehigh but he won't because alas he "protects" our skill guys."
I tried to believe Briere would bring a fresh change but alas he isn't the guy it seems.

My box of rocks resents this!
But seriously, you all give them a chance. Wait until the summer, or at least draft, is over. You all sound like chicken little. |

I don't think I could pass on Parekh if he was there. And I might like Eiserman more too. He does something that is very needed.

The top half of this draft has shaken out to be really strong or what? Wasn’t it supposed to be a bad year supposedly |

Yeah, I think that’s also the point of Jones. They were also apparently close to hiring Eddie Olczyk. To me the fact that those 2 media guys ended up at the top of their list suggests a strategy of significant PR. The old guard doesn’t have to be involved because this new regime is supposed to emulate the old guard to appeal to the dumb impatient fans. So many people were upset over a statue being moved but still kept buying tix and merch this year for a mediocre team. I believe Jones thinks they can be like the Phillies where they sign all these guys and become good. Well, there’s no hard cap in baseball Jonesy. - Schmojo
In my opinion, the Flyers hired Jones because no serious candidate would take the job when informed of the triumvirate and how the POHO would not have full oversight and would just be one member of the "co-equal branches of government".

nothing wrong with a Cate Poehling Hathaway 4th line. Maybe move Hathaway at the end of his deal. we don't want young kids playing those minutes anyway. Cates and Poehling are slotted correctly there, no need to move them at all. - anti-lame
Torts was using them as the 3rd line. |

Everything I see about Helenius is that he has no weaknesses. A very complete player but doesn't have one skill that stands out like Eiserman's shot or Demidovs puck handling etc.
One thing is that he has been playing against men and doing well. A good solid 2C projection. Typical Flyers pick LOL

not against EJ either as long as he's the 7th and there is no Marc Staal. we'll see how it shakes out. - anti-lame
paying cates well over 2 million to play on the 4th line is a waste of cap space. trade him.
those combined eat up over what 7 million. where is the pay off?
why dont you want young players getting a taste in a lower minute role? |

this is the most dramatic thing i've ever read. good lord, this team takes entirely too much space in your head. it's just not that serious - anti-lame

Hopefully Hathaway plays well again and he can be moved at the TDL for a pick or prospect.

Please stop. If they can't see how to capitalize on moving assets to rebuild then I really wish someone at one of these pressers would ask serious questions.
Question: Danny, How do you see resigning Konecny to an 8 year deal help your rebuild as he will be in his 30's when this team looks to finally be a playoff contender?"
Answer: Blah blah blah
Follow up: Would not acquiring maybe more picks, especially if high and possible prospects be more beneficial to a rebuild as you guys have stated you were doing?
Someone in the media needs to actually put them on the spot to answer. Some of us are not dumb fans and know what this needs. |

if this slotting allows younger (cheaper) skill players to play top 9 minutes then I don't see what's wrong with having a solid, competitive 4th line at that cost. plug in whoever you see fit once you move on from hathaway (though i will agree that I wouldn't be shocked to see a 2 year ext) |

when you are a bottom team there is zero need to have that type of money spent on a 4th line. use your 4th line to evaluate players.
me if overpaying at least let it be for a top line or even top 6 type. flyers almost always over pay on the slug types. |
