Bold moves... when have those ever worked out for the Flyers?
The majority of their bold moves end up on perma-LTIR'd or bought out or traded for pennies on the dollar. - Tomahawk
Same old, same old. They will never learn. That was just another terrifying press conference yesterday.

What exactly is the Flyers set up on the PP? I ask because I really cannot tell. When Mullen ran the PP, the structure was very apparent. G on left half boards- RH fwd, Voracek' right half boards- LH fwd, Simmonds net front presence. other fwd generally in slot to shoot or offer a screen, Dman- top of umbrella. It drove me nuts to constantly see Tippett on the right boards near the blueline on the PP. Or Frost on the left half boards as LH fwd shooting. Absolutely ridiculous stricture. - Trox88
Nobody knows what their PP strategy and philosophy is. One of the great mysteries in the world.

The Inquirer interviewed Briere at the combine. He wants Erik Johnson back.

And now that we know Erik — I mean, I knew him before because I played with him (in Colorado), know the type of person he is and the type of leader. So we’d like very much to bring him back. - Feanor
We are definitely in the playoffs then! |

Bottom 5th of the league and only because Bonk had a nice year.

Whoa, I'm not ready to give up on Barkey being a top 6 winger. Goalies are hard to evaluate. Sotheran had a pretty good year.

Were they bold or stupid moves? I’m trying to think of the last FA they grabbed that I was excited about...a guy that I thought would be a difference maker? - landros 2
For the Flyers bold is synonymous with stupid.
Can't wait for the next Kevin Hayes. |

Pass the puck between a bunch of guys who refuse/cannot one-time and watch them shoot unscreened muffins on net that don't create any rebounds.

Newest Athletic (Pronman) mock has the Flyers taking Helenius at #12. And Dean Letourneau at #31/32

I will personally walk up to their draft table and flip it over if they have a chance at Parekh and pass.

From what I see it comes down to this.
1. If you don't have the puck, Skate to a spot and just stand there until the player with the puck tries to force it to you.
2. Player with puck tries to force pass to non moving player.
3. If players gets pass, refuse to shoot until defense gets between you and the net.
4. repeat until 2 minutes expires.

nothing wrong with a Cate Poehling Hathaway 4th line. Maybe move Hathaway at the end of his deal. we don't want young kids playing those minutes anyway. Cates and Poehling are slotted correctly there, no need to move them at all.
not against EJ either as long as he's the 7th and there is no Marc Staal. we'll see how it shakes out.

I couldn’t read the whole transcript it was just upper management speak. Lots of platitudes and flowery language.
I didn’t get any substantive ideas on how they were approaching the upcoming season that would make them a stronger organization. |

The year they got Briere, and acquired the rights to Timonen, & Hartnell. |

I think it's pretty clear and I've been resistant to this idea. The Flyers are manufacturing and selling a fictitious product. With advertising and propaganda filled with buzz words and attempting to cater to the typical Flyers fan. The majority of which are dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to the Flyers. Especially the one fan who Hilferty claims came up to him on the street to kiss his ass and thanked him for everything they've done. If that person even exists. If he/she does, then Hilferty walked away thinking, "another satisfied customer"

That’s the thing, beyond getting Draisaitl, which ain’t going to happen, they’ll just be going after Hayes level players. And that will lead to the same bad cap situations they’ve been trying to get out of for over a decade. |

I don't disagree about that being a solid 4th line. Problem is, as soon as they get out there and put their grit on full display for Torts and one of the "skill" guys in the top 9 hits an inevitable rough patch, Torts is going to start moving those 3 you mentioned up in the lineup. Cuz they've earned it...
Given the number of Dmen that the team already has that have reached the sink or swim point of their development, it would be egregious to bring EJ back in any capacity. Let those other guys play, regardless of the outcome. But they won't do that |

Yeah, I think that’s also the point of Jones. They were also apparently close to hiring Eddie Olczyk. To me the fact that those 2 media guys ended up at the top of their list suggests a strategy of significant PR. The old guard doesn’t have to be involved because this new regime is supposed to emulate the old guard to appeal to the dumb impatient fans. So many people were upset over a statue being moved but still kept buying tix and merch this year for a mediocre team. I believe Jones thinks they can be like the Phillies where they sign all these guys and become good. Well, there’s no hard cap in baseball Jonesy. |

if he does get resigned i'm hoping it's at most 1 million and he sits until someone gets injured.
