Yup

There’s the type of D coach we need

Foote, Stevens, Luke Richardson etc

I say we bring Gio onboard 👍

- mr.sir

I know the Leafs have plenty of cash to spend on coaching but do you expect every player to have his own personal coach?

Imagine if Marner left as a UFA and Tavares’s contract expired… Leafs now have $22M+ in cap space. Somewhat decent ish UFA crop

Draisaitl, Crosby, Rantanen, Marchand, Hedman, Theodore, Ekblad, Konecny, Chychrun, Shersterkin, Saros, Ullmark,….

Nothing too crazy

- Turnitaround

I know what you mean but technically, as it stands, the Leafs will have 8 guys under contract and about $51M in cap space.

If I'm Tree I'm trying to tie up Knies, Woll and maybe McCabe before they go out and have good years and get more expensive.

I’m just glad that Tree is keeping all options on the table. To me, all options have to always be on the table. Hopefully things work out for both sides.

Marners next deal with Toronto would likely be around $12Mx 8years.

I’m sure that Marners camp is confident he can leaf as a UFA and get $13.5MX 7 years elsewhere easy peasy!

- Turnitaround

Nuts to give MM $13.5M. If he gets that then what does Draisaitl get? He’s worth WAY more than MM. If MM becomes a UFA with Draisaitl next year, it will drive MM’s price down.

Is Draisatl going to sign an extension in Edmonton this summer?

I'd imagine Draisatl and Rantanen extension talks impact Marner.

no one is paying Mitch anything near those prices. He is a good player. Great regular season player. He is worth about 10 mil. He is currently overpaid. Some GM might over pay him at 12Mill. But it won't be the Leafs.

I heard he hired McKinsey as his new agent. He will get way over paid no questions asked.

Wonder if Chynoweth ends up in NJ lol

Doubtful. Frankly not sure he should be in the NHL at all.

You guys need to remember that a frozen cap is done… it will be around $120 million by the end of an eight year deal.

You do realize Marner is getting paid 10.903 AAV right? If he's worth 10, he's barely overpaid.

It will almost certainly be the Leafs.

Watch Edmonton win the Cup, then lose Drai and then lose McD, bottom out and win the lottery again.

He's been overpaid at 10.93 for the duration of that contract and it's not "barely" overpaid - especially if you compare him to the other wingers in the league that have put up #'s similar to his, &/or have been far more of an impactful playoff performer.

Your Marner goggles don't seem to allow you to see the reality of the situation, your certainty that he will be a Leafs after his current contract is cute in the way a child loves their dog but it's far from a certainty with Dubas not as the GM.

Tre isn't Dubas and has zero loyalty to anyone other than the organization and that means he will re-sign Marner if he feels the deal makes sense for the organization and it's longer term success. If he thinks Marner's camp wants too much and they are not willing to compromise / seek fair compensation then Marner will be gone one way (trade) or another (Walks as a UFA).

Tre is not obligated to double down and overpay Marner a 2nd time just because Dubas tried to right the alleged wrong made by LL.

The Leafs are plenty talented and the theory that if they let Marner go are doomed to fall is 100% a fallacy that is being narrated by Marner fan boys like you.

Everyone needs to just strap in and see where the ride ends, nobody knows at this point, not you, not Marner or his camp and not Tre and the last 2 won't really know until they get deep into negotiations (assuming they do get to that point).

False. 5th in points the past 5 years, Selke votes, two-way PKer, as many takeaways as Matthews. More playoff points than Matthews and Nylander.

Shanahan was in charge under Dubas and he's in charge now under Treliving. The GM doesn't matter because Shanahan is calling the shots. Always has been.

Contract year, Marner will put up 108 points in 72 regular season games.. Come playoff time, he'll get 0G and 1 A in another first rd exit.
