I really, really hope they do not buyout Atkinson. He can be the 13th fwd if he still plays poorly, gain maximum cap flexibility next month.
- Trox88

You’re probably right. They’re likely to buyout someone. If it’s Ryan Johansson, we should all be pissed. Trade for a guy you never had interest in and buy him out without giving him a shot. I don’t care about personal feelings from either side.

I’m not sure what you’re suggesting here? I can only guess that it’s not that you need to draft high to be a contender? They got Ekblad at 1st overall and Barkov at 2nd overall. Those are their foundational pieces. Without them the rest of their roster is irrelevant. Also, they were able to acquire Tkachuk, a former 6th overall pick by trading Huberdeau, who they drafted 3rd overall. Florida’s success, like pretty much every cup champions success the last 15 years, is built on a foundation drafted in the top 5.

Let’s not forget, Florida’s Vezina winning goalie used to play for the Flyers and was traded so that they could go out and get an established veteran rather than develop the young goalie.

Why do you little nerds always start comments with thx Bill? He gets paid
To express his thoughts.
Your legion of suck ups are why this poop organization has been losers for 50 years.

Hahahahha. Thank you for your comment.

We thank Bill because he is the best poster on this site and writes almost every day. He is too good for this site honestly but he continues to be a professional and we appreciate it.

Good riddance to the rags couldn’t happen to a better bunch of frauds.

Amen. I was very happy to see them ousted. Without shesterkin they would have likely been swept. Really hope Dallas can come back in their series but I think they’re cooked. Should be interesting to see Edmonton vs the panthers.

Good luck Bob!

(frank) the Rangers!!

I said it two years ago and I’ll say it now. When Matthew Tkachuk refused to sign with Calgary, we should have been in on that. TK and something else would have been enough.

- roenick97

would love to hear what something else would have been.

another example of over rating the value of one travis konecny.

“It was impressive, the character that he showed,” Briere had said at his exit interview. “Coming back from the offseason surgery that he had, being traded, trying to adapt to a new team. Couldn’t skate at 100%, and that’s kind of the key to his game. I’m excited to see a Jamie Drysdale fully healthy next season. I think we’re going to see a different player.”

I just hope he isn't a perpetually injured or banged up player for the duration.

Oh, and Thanks Bill.

How can you say that? The Flyers have such a solid recent history of solid medical evaluations and plans. Look no further than Ellis, Risto, Atkinson, Farabee, Couts, even trying to send down Johansen and having to undo it because he was injured. Great decisions (see RR postponing surgery until the summer when he was already out) and all the transparency with “multi-layered” injuries, etc.

Let’s hope that they handle JD the right way. His skill and talent are undeniable. His health is what’s in question.

WTF are you talking about? Recent? It seems to go all the way back to Lindros and before.

I sometimes wonder if they are so stuck in their "old school" mentality as a franchise that it even permeates all the way down to how they treat injuries.

Funny that you wrote that! I was going to specifically go back to Lindros and the concussions. Then I figured we had enough with the last couple of years and I erased that part. We are all traumatized by being Flyers fans. But there are a couple of silver linings:

We’re not Laffs fans and the Rags lost!

Don't forget these guys!!! I believe collectively they've won 13 of the past 15 Stanley Cups.

Pittsburgh - Crosby 1st, Malkin 2nd, MAF 1st, Jordan Staal 2nd overall.
Chicago - Toews 3rd, Kane 1st overall.
Tampa Bay - Stamkos 1st, Hedman 2nd overall.
Colorado - MacKinnon 1st, Landeskog 2nd, Makar 4th, Rantanen 10th overall.
Washington - OV 1st, Backstrom 4th overall.
Los Angeles- - Doughty 2nd, Kopitar 11th, Brown 13th, Schenn 5th overall.

Yes I know Schenn was traded for Richards, he was 5th overall which meant he was valuable for the Kings and allowed them to trade him for a great young player.
