Agree with everything but one little thing I'd bring attention to is Stuart Skinner is 1 game away from going to the Stanley Cup.
Now I know McDavid and Draisaitl cover a lot of warts but I think you just need about average goaltending. - Pelle31Forever
It's so hard to say who will come up with the key saves in a 7-game series.
Lot of average goalies who have caught fire and their teams rode them to the promised land. And a lot of absolute stud goalies who just couldn't make that last save to close out a series and ended their careers without a Cup.
Goaltending is voodoo. |

Thanks, Bill! Question, how important do you think the combine is this year in light of so much uncertainty? - coffee junkie

Cats blueline outside of Ekblad is pretty much retreads from other organizations. More then one way to team build I guess. |

Lol love it! I never realized that thanking someone is sucking up. I guess I suck up to the mailman, Amazon driver, cashier at supermarket, etc. Now I know...and knowing is half the battle!

Thanks Bill for the updates even during these slow days. I love the birthdays. Murray Baron - I'll never forget the Flyers Caps brawl when Baron went at it with Al Iafrate who took off his jersey and was already bloodied from the pile-up behind the net after Berube nailed Don Beaupre. I think I still have the VHS tape as I used to tape the games while watching. I watched that game over and over and can still hear Emerick and Clement's commentary. |

It’s working for them. Panthers up 2-0 late in the third and pretty much suffocating the rags. |

Good luck Bob!
(frank) the Rangers!!
I said it two years ago and I’ll say it now. When Matthew Tkachuk refused to sign with Calgary, we should have been in on that. TK and something else would have been enough. |

That Florida 1st may as well be a 2nd round pick at this point.

Well you can get a Barkov with the 2nd overall pick.
With the flyers recent track record with #2 picks maybe not so much.

Wonder what the Rangers do with Kakko. Bad regular season, 2 pts in playoffs with 12:00 ice time/gm. He is a RFA. Does he want out ? Could they sell low? |

Why would they waste assets on another winger? |

I’m not sure what you’re suggesting here? I can only guess that it’s not that you need to draft high to be a contender? They got Ekblad at 1st overall and Barkov at 2nd overall. Those are their foundational pieces. Without them the rest of their roster is irrelevant. Also, they were able to acquire Tkachuk, a former 6th overall pick by trading Huberdeau, who they drafted 3rd overall. Florida’s success, like pretty much every cup champions success the last 15 years, is built on a foundation drafted in the top 5.
Let’s not forget, Florida’s Vezina winning goalie used to play for the Flyers and was traded so that they could go out and get an established veteran rather than develop the young goalie. |

When I post about players on other teams, I'm not necessarily thinking the Flyers should try and acquire. However, there were rumors the Rangers were interested in Laughton. Maybe they revisit trying to acquire Laughton because they want to change their forwards. I want as many teams as possible interested in Flyers players on the roster. |

Atkinson buyout. Konency and Laughton trades. All UFA walk. I think these are realistic expectations for the summer. |

I really, really hope they do not buyout Atkinson. He can be the 13th fwd if he still plays poorly, gain maximum cap flexibility next month.

Maybe I'm showing respect to an organization who was god awful for a long time, but thru a combo of drafting, trades, waiver wire claims, and free agency has turned into an elite team. I could make the argument that Forsling is their best Dman and Carolina tossed him away. They gave up 2 1st rd picks for a Cup run that went no where. After those trades, 2 appearances in the Finals- fantastic job.

Florida built around Barkov period. They wisely got the right role players. They got Montour for a 3rd. They got Laostarinan in the Trocheck trade. They drafted a big Finn center at #12. Forsling was an outstanding U20 defensemen who took about 4 years to develop and they got him when he was ready to blow up like Montour. Drafting, developing, and signing the right FAs and role players.
Compare Barkov with Marner. Barkov is a foundation and Marner is a shiny object.
