McJesus is in a unique position as a player in terms of leverage. Everyone in the league knows he is the best player to suit up since Gretzky or Lemieux. His stats would be obscenely-higher if he had been playing for a true contender all of these years.
If I was him, I wouldn't hesitate to test the free agent market when my parole date from Edmonton came up. In another two years, the cap should be high enough for several teams to make a play for him.....including....wait for it......the Leafs! (*heads explode!*) - GalacticStone
McDavid seems like a one franchise man. But I guess we'll have to see. I can see Draisaitl Captaining the Utah Yeti for 14mil. |

I agree, McD seems like one to not make waves...will sign another deal with Edmonton below his true value..again.

Does Edmonton have to trade L.D. this summer if he doesn't sign an extension? I kind of feel like they have to make a decision on him this summer. Offer him wads of cash and if he says no then they know he ain't staying and it's time to work on a trade. - The Law
You can't trade him, because it means McJesus 100% leaves in free agency. |

Yeah, he does. If so, Edmonton is lucky to have him in more ways than one.
I argue that Stamkos is the same with that, and I guess we'll find out pretty soon if I am right.
If Stamkos does leave (hopefully not), then the only place I would find acceptable as a destination would be Toronto. Stamkos parked in his office on the PP, taking feeds from Matthews instead of Ducherov would be fun to see.

Habs will throw that 14M at Draisaitl if he hits the market.
I guarantee it.

This summer or mid season ala nylander.
Have the workings of a potential trade in place by December if he hasnt signed.
Which probably means McJesus is gone as well. |

I really like this one of mine:
Auston Matthews: Another season where he doesn't really give 100% - just drafting off the pack, ready to attack the finish line at the end (it's a running analogy for hockey - meaning he won't give 100% until the playoffs). - Atomic Wedgie
You can draft in running too? I assumed at that low of a speed wind resistance wouldn't be enough of a thing.

But if he refuses to extend this summer ..plays out the year and signs elsewhere ...is it any better in terms of convincing McD to stay?
I guess it depends on the return that's offered this summer. |

Slaf-Suzuki-Cole actually exists so I'm gonna go with that.
Michkov... we'll have to wait and see but I'm not convinced he's gonna be a star from the get go under Tortorella.
I'd be more than happy to ice this in 3 years:

My predictions mostly held up pretty well because I didn't go out on any limbs.
I predicted Matthews would have a 110 point season, so that was close.
I said Domi would stay and thrive to make his daddy proud. I think we are close to seeing if that holds up or not.
I said Bert would meet expectations, which I guess he did, depending on that your expectations were.
For Klingberg, I predicted he would pile up points and then get hurt for the rest of the year. The last part held up.
The rest was just a bunch of poop talk that turned out to be predictably wrong. |

Was healthy last year.
Did great at the worlds.
Can always LTIR him plus the Leafs have a few young prospects that are going to push for spots. |

Joining an 11 am meeting, so I can't give you a full answer, but yes, it's a thing.
The Nike Breaking2 wanted to see if a human could break the 2 hour barrier in a marathon.
They had a guy draft behind five runners (they took turns) - they were to pace him and also so he could draft off them. They ran in the exact spot by following laser dots.
Anyhoo, he did it (it's an unofficial record), and they figure he saved 3 minutes and 42 seconds.

I heard Tampa was connected to Kase. I hope they avoid him. It would feel like he's always one wrong hit away from LTIR.

Weirder things have happened, but look up his stats at his age as comparables. Kuzzy/Tarasenko/Kaprizov...and Tolvanen...forget that last one though. |
