GH is the type of player you keep during a rebuild. Re-sgin for another 2 years. His value is more than the worth of a 3rd rd pick.

Remember that Devils playoff loss. Someone throws a puck at Flyers net, hits Dan McGillis in the rear-end and falls right on Elias' stick.

Significant difference in the physicality of the two series. I guess I never paid much attention to it. NYR and FLA everyone gets hit it seems on every play. Everyone finishes their checks. Not so much DAL vs. EDM.

I found it interesting. I think DAL could adjust to that style of game more easily than EDM.

I’m fine with one or two guys like Hathaway. Rebuild or no rebuild. He brings guys into the fight every night.

I thought Barkey had some really solid shifts. You can see the kid has exceptional vision and hockey smarts. He needs to fill out for sure….but so did current Flyers like Frost and Konecny. He definitely has a chance to be a player.
Bonk is just an all around solid d. The fact that he has added more offence to his game is a bonus. Still a lot of work to do but this kid is going to play a lot of games in the NHL.

I am neutral when it comes to bonk. Lets see it play out. Not putting much stock in his offensive numbers. Better to have them not I suppose.

Same with Barkey as being neutral. As you said the skill and vision is apparent. as far as filling out he may be one of those types who doesnt. Like zamula. just kind of leave him be.

Both are still kids…both have a lot to work on…but both guys look to have a chance. I guess you could say this about a lot of 18-19 year olds. I watched a bunch of London games this year and came away thinking Bonk is a legit prospect that will play a lot of NHL games and Barkey kind of won me over as the year continued. He just makes a lot of subtle little plays and see’s the ice on a different level than most. Obviously he’s not very big, and will have to get a lot stronger.

I am curious how the blueline shakes out internally the next few seasons. I'm going to leave out Zamula, Attard, and Ginning in this post.

Bonk, Andrae, MacDonald, and Sotheran are in the organization. Possible another blueline prospect added in the 1st rd this season. Who becomes a mainstay in the NHL? It would be a disappointment if they turn out to be AHL.quality only. I do wonder if some prospects are moved to gain another asset.

I just hope we aren't going to be reliving the Provorov, Sanheim, Morin nightmare. So much promise, so little payoff.

I had little faith in Morin from the start. Thought it was a horrendous pick. Rooted for the kid once we had him but yeah…

At this point I’m convinced it’s not a scouting problem. They get these prospects and they all just hit a wall in their development they never seem to overcome. Thats a coaching problem.

This is kind of silly thinking on your part. The odds of a 3rd rounder playing 100 games in the NHL is very low. For that matter, they're still low odds for a 2nd rounder. In addition, not every player on a team has to be a superstar. In fact, most SC winning teams have at least a couple of GH type guys on the team. Not that GH is irreplaceable, but he's more value than he's paid with the Flyers like the other similar players are that are on SC winning teams and step up in critical games . It just so happens that he stands out on a team so devoid of high end talent like the Flyers. Truth is, guys like him are valued in the NHL

agreed 100%. GH has plenty of value for a team rebuilding or not. but he sucks because he doesn't do the Michigan

Convince me that the Flyers shouldn’t explore a trade for 23 year old C, Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Scary contract. Huge risk/reward. Role the dice?

Good odds he gets bought out by Carolina. They would likely trade him for nothing. Nobody is going to want that contract. He gets bought out then worth a shot but he will have his choice of contending teams not coming to Flyers

Aside from Eric Lindros, didn't Stevens also concuss Damond Langkow and Martin Brodeur high stick John Leclair in the face in the 2000 playoffs? We were leading that series 3-1, still hurts.

what is silly thinking?

- where the flyers currently are at they should be acquiring as many assets as possible. do you disagree?

- players who have value like GH should be moved. if you want to then bring in another GH "type" then you do that on a 1 year deal then hopefully move said player at the deadline. this is how you build your system. this is a simple strategy.

- comparing what a cup contending roster looks like and the current flyers on is irrevelevent.
