Why is it that the people with the worst spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabularies rant the most about politics in non-political venues? They also seem to have intermittent issues with their caps-lock keys. It's weird how patterns like that become apparent over time. It's almost like there is a correlation lurking there somewhere....

Ok, hear me out.

Doug Gilmour as head coach.

He's already involved with the team. He has coaching experience. He has immense respect from the players and fanbase.

Ok, it's a risky move. He's never coached at the NHL level. But, has coached the minors and was an assistant for the Marlies. He's not just a pee wee coach like Marty St. Louis when he got the Montreal job.

Give him this coming season to demonstrate his coaching chops. If it doesn't pan out, you jettison a core member after Tavares/Marner's contracts are up and hire one of the same old names we keep hearing again and again.
