Stumbled across this today. Brendan Perlini has some stories to share about players he played with. He talked about Toews and Keith specifically.

Too funny, I just stumbled across that a half hour ago. I haven’t watched yet.

I think he meant hockey deity Marian Hossa.

It is, especially for top guys, and a reason I like Vlasic so much. Not at Levshunov's level as a prospect but Vlasic was a kid who could have made the jump to the AHL but stayed a 3rd yr at BU instead. Then played a yr in the AHL.. A level headed kid who gets it. - Mr Ricochet
Nothing against the player but there weren't huge expectations there either. Lot of potential but definitely a project. Credit to him for taking some massive steps and looking like a very good player but it could be almost easier for a player like that to out kick their coverage rather than a kid taken 2 or 3 to live up to expectations. |

I am just wary and want to see the safest pick when it comes to our #2 overall. If KD explains away any concern or issues regarding Demidov, I will just shrug and say I hope he is right. Demidov would be a great match with Bedard and if not for the concern about his skating/edges, this is who I would take over a dman
The prudent thing to do is to be safe with such a valued draft slot as this and take the dman KD likes best. I would not hesitate to overpay to move up from #20 however and my first choice is to grab Eiserman. I just see whether Demidov or Hayes to interchange with Eiserman on lines one and two, as a good way to score. It would be a serious, a solid scoring threat from a few players with very good skill - hard to stop the passing shooting resulting in goals
Now as for my overreacting to Russians being blocked from coming over to the NHL, there is no real threat and I should not pre suppose political issues could arise. Sure some hang up’s but Vabeachbear the Russians do wind up over here. Maybe later than sooner for Michkov but Filatov apparently will be supplanting C Hart in the Philadelphia goalcrease.
And Kantserov probably does get over here eventually
I do expect Hayes to get a cup of coffee at minimum next year in Chicago. I look forward seeing exactly how Greene and Moore fit in. And Ludwinski looks like he could be an excellent third line forward to play alongside Slaggert …again might be later than sooner for most of our prospects
As for our dmen prospects, some toughness with descent mobility skating and skill is going to hopefully hold down some second and third pair jobs because I really believe DelMastro, Allen and Kaiser could hold those jobs. Phillips and Crevier gone through another year of experience and challeges are likely here still for one more season before a logjam on defense must be split up
In goal just want to hear how Comesso and even Stauber are progressing in their development |

The short version is, he liked Shane Doan for being a great human being. He liked Toews for being a great leader and bringing people together, he like Duncan Keith for bonding with him over his stick and being tied to England, and he liked McDavid for being a funny guy and an amazing player.
Edit: oh and I forgot Mike Smith, he talked about him, didn't like him at first, but ended up being closer to him the second time he played with him in Edmonton vs when he was intimidated by him in Arizona. |

Where does Ullmark and Markstrom end up next year, Oilers? Kings? Devils? Maple Leafs? |

What does a safe draft pick look like? Isn't picking best player available by definition mean you are making the safe pick?
Greene is staying in school for another year.

Watching all these prospects Blackhawks have a tough choice. I worry about how small Demidov is, i kind of hope they lean towards Silayev if they draft a Russian from Russia. Levshunov or D!ckinson look good as well. I guess i do like my big defenseman who can skate and have good gap control. - BetweenTheDots
Demidov is not small. Reports are he is at least 6' at this point. |

He isn't short, but I think most reports are he doesn't weigh that much and isn't physical. |

As I go back over the World Junior U-18 some more, I see enough players between the USA and Canada teams to fill those six early selections.
How can you not like Chicago areas Kamil Bednarik or defensive first RD EJ Emery or LW Max Plante, whose father Derek played?
One last time I am thinking all the 32 teams have lists that are different enough to suggest all teams look for different things, don’t necessarily go best player, or that anyone including the Balckhawks is to go off current script and take who they like as really nice future NHL players.

He's 18. And he weighs 180-185ibs. How much bigger do you want him to be at 18?
Physical? He drives the net and protects the puck. This notion that every player needs to be grinders is outlandish. |

I’m watching the Gens playing the London Knights, there’s an overage Russian kid on London Ruslan Gazizov 5’11” 190 who’s a pretty feisty and put up some decent numbers this year 36 goals 45 assists in 63 games. I think at 20 he’s a free agent, if so it doesn’t hurt to sign him. |
