Ha ha, the pathetic Suxas strike again!! I just saw a report that their ownership bought 2,000 tickets to tonight's game 6 cause they didn't want Knicks fans to get them. Yet more proof that Suxas fans are a bunch of fraud frontrunner fans! A playoff game and they can't get people to come...so pathetic!! |

The Flyers will have plenty of cap space for both these players. You have to consider the money moving out from these trades, buyout of Atkinson, plus more trades if needed. - jd250
What if Michkov is who we think he is/could become? How much do you think he's worth after his ELC? |

Selke trophy voting is not just based on the PK. The correct answer is that players who are soft don't get nominated as a Selke finalist and you're wrong that he is a soft player. - MJL It would appear that Nylander is the softer player. Nylander had 32 hits and 29 blocked shots in 82 games while Marner had 59 hits and 51 blocked shots in 69 games. Uh oh!

Two very different players with very different roles. Poehling ideally is a bottom forward and was over played last season because of necessity. Frost should be a top 6 forward that is consistently generating offense and helping the power play. Now you can say Frost lead the team in PP points this year and that would be true, but that is not saying much when the team had a worst PP in the league and historically the worst PP in franchise history. - jd250
He led the team in PP points...good or bad...doesn't matter...he led the team. More PP points than TK, Farabee, Foerster, and all of them.
Your comment on it doesn't say much....it says he outperformed TK, Tippett and crew on the PP in less games. |

Just having fun here folks, but pretending for a moment the Leafs might look to move on from Marner, Draisaitl wants out of Edmonton if they don't win and Michkov gets out of his contract and comes to the Flyers for next season, here is my crazy off-season plan:
1. Trade TK, Frost, 1st round pick to Edmonton for Draisaitl
2. Trade Laughton, Farabee, 1st round pick to Toronto for Marner
3. Sign Michkov to ELC
Now the Flyers top 6 next year is:
Draisaitl - Michkov - Marner
Couts - Tippet - Foerster
I can dream can't I? - jd250
So glad that you are not in the Flyers front office. |

Not really but I see your point. With this plan, the Flyers big contracts would be Draisaitl and Marner, then Couts. The Flyers would have to pay TK anyway, so that would offset some of it. - jd250
I think you would need some cap gymnastics to make it work and then keep your young talent when they need new deals.

he now wants to trade the player that he said they need to keep cause he is the type of player you build around and acquire a player he said was soft
makes total sense |

I give you Draisaitl and Marner are considered elite players. I certainly believe Draisaitl is. But if Draisaitl is not willing to resign then Edmonton will have to move him which means they lack leverage. Draisaitl may want to go to Boston, but Boston does not have the assets that the Flyers have. TK and Frost together combined for 109 points this season, Draisaitl had 106 points. Throw in a 1st round pick and I don't think any team can match that. Farabee and Laughton combined for 89 points this season, Marner had 85 points. Again, throw in a 1st round pick and the leadership Laughton brings that the Leafs desperately need and this will also be hard for another team to beat. And I am confident once both players are here and playing with Michkov, both players will want to resign with the Flyers. Its big money, but well worth it. - jd250
It's hysterical that you think that the Flyers could acquire two bona fide elite level players without including Michkov in either deal.

Always an outlier. That has been well discussed and how they used the expansion draft. Good luck trying to replicate that.

Brind'Amour to test free agency in the coaching ranks.
This could be the gift the Flyers have needed. Briere should stop at pretty much nothing to sign Brindy, fix that major mistake in Flyers history (trading Brind'Amour), and having a coach who understands todays game.
I would not have an issue having Brind'amour having a say in player movements either. |

Marner 12M
Konecny 8.5M

I think he is saying the Flyers would trade TK if they became available. Still would need some Howie-esque cap wizardry to make it work with the younger players coming off rookie deals... and then when MM time is to get paid it gets more complicated.

GMDB: “Hi John it’s Danny. Would you be ok with it if I fired you and hired Brindy to be the coach?”
Torts: “Are you out of your f€#%ing mind?!?!?”
GMDB: “Okee dokee Torts. Just checking”
Later…
GMDB: “Rod, Danny here. Uhm yeah. I’d love to hire you but Torts won’t give me permission. Good luck in Seattle buddy” |

did you want to maybe clarify the contradicting statements you made today or are you good with it?
the backpedaling is hilarious
oh, ok...i see the discrepancy now.
you're saying the Flyers should bring him over - but you personally wouldn't bring him over, like, to your house to play in the backyard?
do i have this right? - anti-lame
Didn’t you know that what he thinks the flyers should do and what he would do are two distinctly different things? lol
If only we all talked that way lol!!

Knowing how the Canes operate, heavy in analytics and a focus on managing the cap and drafting and developing versus how the Flyers operate. Is a major clash in my view. With the Flyers not remotely close to contending, I wonder why he would want to come here.
