How many fans are going to keep buying tickets if the team is kept mostly intact? Have to think most fans want some sort of rebuild.
- ses111

Fans in all sports are the suckers Salaries keep going up and production and quality of play keeps going down. You get less for more Sounds something like BIdenflation Ticket prices keep going up and the suckers keep buying inflated prices and only the players laugh all the way to the bank And the fans are too stupid to realize that

Extremely over rated Just do not have that one guy who can dominate Need a lot of help Mediocre at at best

Mediocre at best is still better then the putrid swamp level you dwell in.

Younger and rebuilding is better than older and slower. They're going to be bad either way. I'd rather have something to look forward to.

Huh? Who the hell was overrating them? We all knew this team was garbaggio before the season started. Your statement is flawed.

Dobson? Really? He was the second leading scorer on the team and posted 60 assists. He's absolutely the future with this team. He may never be a defensive standout, but he's going to be worth every penny. If they're trading him then they should just blow it all up and start from scratch.

Yes, he is your second leading scorer. Yes, he has defensive issues. Yes, he should be the future or at least a part of it. The reason for my questioning is that once you pay him, you now have half of your defence on 6 mil contracts or better. Dober will make north of what Pullock and Pelech. Romanov is a RFA after next season. It is a lot of monies tied into the d.

Mayfield isn't going anywhere unless he decides he wants to. They can work the phones all they want but he has a full NTC. Same with Pelech and Pulock.

Maybe not but these three are something that they have to look into. I think you will see more problems with injuries.

There is absolutely no reason to re-sign Nelson or Palmieri after their contracts are up. If they're not going to trade them this summer, which they should, then they absolutely have to trade them at the deadline unless the Islanders, for some reason, are at the top of the standings.

Now is the time to capitalize on their assets that have value.

I would like to see them try and move them at the Draft. I think that the team would be able to maximize their return at the draft.

NY Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello to address the media on Friday.

I am surprised that we are hearing from him so early. The question is will he speak in hypotheticals or will he provide a more definitive answer for the future.

I wonder if he feels some pressure to speak so early? It should be interesting. It better be something different from Lou.

Lou should do the right thing and retire. He has gotten to run 3 teams and won 3 Cups.

Him doing it so soon has me thinking there’s a big change coming but I’m prepared to accept being completely wrong about that.

Pretty standard, today is locker cleanout day and the GM usually addresses the media then. Wouldn't expect to hear much of substance today outside of the usual platitudes

Oliver Wahlstrom says “We’ll see” twice on being an RFA this offseason and whether he thinks he’ll be back with #Isles.

feeling 100%. Knee brace came off about six weeks ago. Ready to be an athlete again this offseason, playing tennis, etc., not sitting on couch icing knee.

I'm not expecting Lou to say he will be trading a bunch of players, but he should say this is on me and losing in the 1st round twice in a row is unacceptable.

Would it be crazy to trade Palms and just play Wally all year in his spot and find out about him once and for all?

Depends on the organizational mindset going forward. If they're going to keep trying to be competitive then, yes, that would be crazy. If they've determined that they think they can/should/will retool a little then no, not crazy at all.

But, and just my opinion, I don't think they can straddle the fence too much on this one. I believe that it needs to be one or the other.

I agree it has to be one or the other, but they do not have the Cap room to keep Nelson and Palms and try to add to the team. It really has to be a retool. I hope Lou at least gives the fans some red meat today.

Mayfield said he fractured his ankle in Game 1.

Said he’s starting to walk around and will be 100% ready for training camp.

Noah Dobson says injury which kept him out of final three regular season games (he won’t specify what) stopped bothering him one or two games into playoff series with Hurricanes
