Resign Marner to a more reasonable contract? What does that even mean? He makes 11 MIL a year now and he isn't gonna take a smaller contract. The Laffs have 40 million in cap space on 4 friggin players. I know this is the piss on the Flyers Network, but I disagree that their (Laffs) situation is more easily fixable. They are going to have to trade one of their big pieces and go from there. Word out of TO is Marner is the one most likely to go.

They're fools if they trade Marner. They'll never get equal value. Marner and Matthews should be untouchable.

At what point to break up the group? The current group has made it past the first round 1. Do you blame the coach, the goalie, the D? How about the lack of production from players making 10 million plus?

I would not be surprised to see UT trade for Marner.

Ah, being judged and challenged by PT21. That's the holy grail. That's how you know you've got him. Yet you call others "losers". The difference between you and I is that I don't hold any animosity to you and wish you no I'll will. I much prefer a verbal confrontation from which I hold far too many victories already to mention.

It always the ones that try and sound smart that aren’t. The superiority complex we get to witness with the posts submitted are rather shallow.
Maybe PT21 you could train for 30 days to appear intelligent.

Just reporting what I'm hearing on Flyers Nation. The one guy is pretty connected, and lives in the TO area and he's the one (Marner) that they deem soft and overpaid. They really need to do something at this point (assuming they lose this series), but to me it's all about their lack of defense and goaltending. Of course, their scorers have to score cause they're paid tons of money! There was a clip out of TO that showed Nylander sitting on the bench with Matthews during the game, and he told him to shoot the effing puck cause it's your job. Then Marner had a hissy fit and threw his gloves in anger. Whoops!

They have to make changes, no doubt. I just think moving Marner or Matthews is not the right change.

He has spent his entire existence on this site trying to convince others that he is a scholar and a superior being. It's been an epic failure. Imagine being so oblivious and having such a lack of self awareness to call others losers while challenging people to a physical confrontation.

He is and if one of the other top 3 needs to go, I would move Nylander.

I hope they don't either. I would ride out Tavares contract, keep the other 3, and cock and reload.

He's no spring chicken. Not sure anyone wants that contract at this stage of his career. According to the folks in TO he has lost a step.

Just listening to Chris Johnson on TSN, IF Leafs loose this series the core 3 of Matthews, Marner, Nylander are a combined 1-8 playoff series. One of the three will be traded as they can't continue with that group.

Meaningless..with 6 yrs at 7.75M left with bad knee and back coming off a yr where he was benched and moved to the 4th line that contract is virtually untradeable. Flyers would have to retain over 2M+ a yr to move him and get little to nothing in return.

be funny if he did ask out knowing the market is non existent

is this a fact? you can trade the better player and improve your team. thy def need to see what is out there in terms of a trade and what the return will be. Then what the next move would be if they did trade him. Would they be fools not to explore a trde cliff?

They still would have AM and Nylander to build around. Along with some other solid prospects. Not going to be easy but it is doable.

Just think if they trade JT back to the isles for s pittance and free up his cap space. Not an impossibility.

I would probably move Marner and Nylander.
If Nylander really did call out teammates for poor play then good for him. The leafs just don’t have a good balance on that team. Either or both of those guys would probably get a good return.
The problem for Marner is his huge cap hit.
I doubt Utah would trade a 1st plus for a winger with a 10 M cap hit. Would Utah trade this years first for Nylander? Maybe worth considering.
This years draft isn’t that great. Would Toronto do that to unload a high price contract?
I they need to do something because what they have now isn’t working.

Wrong, you move the 33 aging vet Tavares who is making more money than he should. He has been pretty much average since joining the Leafs

The Kraken also said assistant coach Paul McFarland, who oversaw the NHL's 17th-ranked power play, won't be back next season.
At this point, 17th ranked power play sounds really good, make it happen DB!

Tavares at his AAV and age is going nowhere, nor is Matthews. Nylander just signed an 8 year extension which starts next season so he is going nowhere either. The only one that does not have an extension is Marner and those that are watching this series can plainly see Marner is not built for playoff hockey. Nylander has actually looked good in the games has has played.

Even if the Leafs cover 50% a team would have to pay Tavares $5.5M at 34 years old. Given the way he is playing, I don't see it happening.

Flyers have now set a trend in leadership. Paramount's CEO is stepping down and the company will now be led by a triumvirate.
