Marner has 49 points in 54 playoff games, not bad. Pretty obvious that team needs to be broken up. Their blueline and goaltending has been substandard because of the money spent on the forwards. I believe Marner could be rejuvenated with a change of scenery. - Trox88
A closer look reveals that he’s a 100 point scorer in Games 1-4 and a half a point in Games 5-7 . He disappears when needed most. Maybe this year he flips the script

They COULD. But I don't think they should. It would be a huge distraction for the whole organization. I believe they either have to trade him or sign him this off-season. - MBFlyerfan
It’s just not the time to sign a guy in his late twenties to an 8 year deal. They have absolutely no idea what this team will look like in 3-4 years. Why would you lock yourself into that. |

They’ve needed him, they’re down 3-1 and he’s a no show. The script is par for the course. The games get tougher and that core struggles. |

If they trade Marner, he’ll have a say where he goes. Just like Giroux.

Could you give me a comparison on a player who does better then half a point a game? I'm just curious. I would think Gretzky, and other all time greats have done it. When we suggest half point per game is bad for games 5-7, is it really bad or just average? Just really do not know, just asking the question. |

Good point. But is just average acceptable for an elite player? Then look at that market where everything hockey gets magnified.

I agree about the market, I would think Marner would want to leave at this point. I just looked at Matthew Tkachuk's playoff stats. Not overwhelming until last year. You could be correct and Marner will always just be average in the playoffs going forward. However, he is 26 and really he should age better then TK into his 30s. I believe with a change of scenery he could help carry team, but certainly not a guarantee.

I’ll pass on Marner and trade TK in the offseason.

This probably sounds homerish but I think Kaprizov has surpassed Marner. He pus up points with far inferior linemates. He’s a good defender and plays with grit. Strong as an ox. He has 10 goals in 19 playoff games.

I really like Kaprizov's game. Watching him play makes me eager to see Michkov in the NHL. Might not be as good defensively, but does not play a perimeter game in the KHL.

That would be an absolute failure by the Flyers and complete lunacy. - Flyfly
not saying they should do that, but they need to think of it that way, position to TK the same. I am not a fan of trading TK and not getting full value nor am I a fan of extending beyond reason. Only two options, get the right value or sign to a contract that is reasonable and can be moved if needed. Most believe the Flyers will overpay. I personally, unless bold and lucky moves are made, believe the Flyers will step back next season, maybe that makes the trade of TK easier, as long as he plays well.
Signing TK in July, he could get what closer to what he is worth today, signing him later might help keep it closer to what he will be worth. Either way the Flyers need to play hard ball, no need to jump the gun in July, if the right deal is not out there.
off-seaon, we need something to discuss |

so you rather et him walk then not get "full" value, whatever that may be. That is a horrible strategy.
Though like Bill said this is why they wont trade him as they probably have a silly price tag. |

They "fixed" the room. Now they need to turn the room over to the younger players. Trading TK and Laughton would be a great start to that process.

Gotcha.... and agreed. I honestly don't think he fits the timeline and they can ill-afford to hand out another large contract with term. Hopefully, they get blown away by a deal but I honestly think they are extending him.

TK isn't going anywhere and the sooner people come to grips with it the better. I can't imagine the whining that will take place on that given day...it will be epic!! |

TK won't be leaving unless the return matches what we'd be losing. I'd count on him not being traded |
