What’s the point of Couturier changing agents now? - Dkos

I hope they all want out and it's the start of a player mutiny against Tortorella. I doubt it though.

Think maybe Coots might think there could be more trouble with Torts (buyout/trade) and he is upgrading his representation - wcorvette
It sounds like his old agent was a family friend. His only client was Couturier. His new agency is larger and more established. |

I’m not seeing that on Twitter. Sounds more like he was unhappy with the way his previous agent handled the Torts situation. It would be pretty interesting if he did want out though. |

A bunch chatter today that Michkov may be released from his contract early. What are the chances they keep Torts behind the bench for MM’s rookie year? |

I always thought Gene Hackman was a bit underrated as an actor. |

Exactly, he hasn't risen to that level. He's been at that level for years. As a I pointed out, which of course PT21 ignored. His down rate scoring years coincided with injuries. - MJL
The reason I ignored it is because it was a silly argument.
Over a large enough sample set, a ppg assessment should rule out the injury effect, because unless a guy is playing injured over that entire time, the ppg should reflect his ability to produce points.
Further, in that set, Point played a full season in 17-18, almost a full season in 19-20, and a full season in 20-21. Overall, in the set we are talking about, and even ignoring his rookie year, he missed 23 games out of 290 (played in over 90%) over a span of 4 years.
That is a large sample. Implications drawn from it are not qualified by injury. |

Torts isn’t dumb enough to ruin him. IMO the guys he’s been playing games with NEED the head game otherwise they will be stagnant for 10 years |

If you've been watching hockey long enough. You would know that when a player misses a significant number of games. He doesn't just come back in the lineup and hit the ground running. It takes time to get back in game shape. Get the timing back. Lingering issues from the injury where the player is not 100%. Unless of course you think it is a mere coincidence that in seasons where he has been injured. His ppg production is down versus seasons where he is pretty much healthy and his ppg production is significantly higher. It was actually a very informed argument made by me that you obviously overlooked as a potential factor. You're now childishly calling it silly not based on the merit of it but rather based on who offered it.

That wasn't the common view at the time the deal was signed, months before his back injury.

I’ll still say it. The contract doesn’t look very good because of the injury. But, and this is a big but, I still think that Coots can still turn this into a less negative situation….I saw some positives early on in the season….and he stayed relatively healthy all year. His back appeared to hold up.

So say he does go public...after Jones going off in January saying" If you don't want to be a Flyer, you won't be".
The Flyers are forced to move him now, and swallow whatever they can get.
Jones just needs to shut the hell up. |

All those effects are washed out in the large sample set and the large fraction of games played within that set.
In two of the 4 seasons mentioned, he has played in all. In one he has played 66 out of 70. Only in 1 has he missed 16 out of 82. So, even the latter bold is untrue. |

Since I have wasted much of a spring day masquerading as summer, I will exact revenge by talking about the Eagles before I depart.
I specifically want to talk about the Saquon Barkley signing.
First the facts: You have a guy who is notorious for refusing to dole out big money to RBs suddenly give out a huge contract with lots of guaranteed money to a RB with a lot of tread in his tires and with very, very meh numbers.
What gives?
My take is this.
1. Saquon is very good in picking up blitzes/blocking. His super-strong lower body means he can often stiff even DL for a sec or so, and he can straight up stay with LBs and manhandle secondary. He is better than the best we have had in that position past 25 years. Better than Westbrook, better than Sproles.
2. Saquon is a wiz in knowing when to abandon his blocking and drift out into the flat to catch. As good as Westbrook.
3. Jalen Hurts had trouble with blitzes this past year and he had trouble in the year before the super bowl run. Some of it is very much due to play design, but not all.
4. The primary protection caller was Kelce. He is gone, and we have a rookie center.
5. Many of the defenses that played us played edge/gap contain, and kept a spy who would be wary of a JH rush (man coverage). The way Michael Vicks used to be played. Bosa boasted about it after the beatdown here. With Saquon, this spy will now have trouble because if Saquon drifts out late from backfield, does the spy play man on him or on JH?
My point in all this is: Eagles are not fully confident of JH ability to read blitzes and be efficient up the middle of the field. The specific signing of SB is a reaction to that, and this season has a subtext: if JH has another poor season throwing in such situations, there may be a lot of trouble ahead for the franchise because they have put every egg they have in the JH basket. |

Agree with this…I’m hoping they do a better job in the play calling to help Hurts. I agree he struggled with those situations but I also think he can get this fixed…the NFL is about being able to over come what the opponent is trying to do. I still think Hurts can grow and be even better then he was two years ago….ok no more optimism from me tonight….maybe the Michkov news? But that’s it. |

It's not washed out. It's an obvious factor. Not the only factor of course but one that has to be considered. For you to dismiss it as silly, is just ignorant. |
