How many times can I say this in a different way? They are scoring 2 or less in games they lose - that doesn’t win in playoffs.

How many games this playoff round have been won by a team scoring 2 or less?

Pine for a better goalie all you want, if they can’t score more than 2 they aren’t winning no matter who is in net.

You can win a low scoring series with half decent goaltending. Are you trying to say a save percentage in the .800’s is good enough?
We have to score at least 4 because Sammy will let in at least 3

I’m not blaming Sammy but where would this series be if the goalies were switched?
- Canada Cup

I don’t know but if we want to play that game where would the series be if the Leafs had Marchand instead of Marner?

Or more tha. 11 shots in 2 periods last night?

We’d be winning without a doubt. We’re only giving up on average 25 shots.

Ya that’s exactly what I said. 🙄

Blame goaltending if it makes you feel better but complaining that this core needs to score more than 2 per game to win is pretty laughable.

Yes we would have won every game 2-1 or 2-0.

Cool.

I’m out this disagreement is going in circles and I’m hungry. Lol

Im not making excuses though and sure it would be great to have a superstar goalie but the Leafs have 5 M tied up in 3 goalies and 40M in 4 forwards who are paid to score.

I think it’s pretty obvious which of those 2 groups is underperforming horrifically.

Of the guys paid to score were doing so at the rate they have shown they can and / are paid to the goaltending the Leafs have got so far would be enough to have them winning this series.

- Cush29

Read something today that said the Leafs got 1 high-danger scoring chance yesterday.

I don't know if that is true, but I only remember maybe 3 or 4. What are they now 1 for 11 in getting more than 2 goals a game.

40 million for that. It is pretty tough to blame the goalie or defense even if they could be better.

Those are made up numbers. We out shot them last night and we definitely had more than 11 shots in two periods.

Your right Leafs got 16 shots through 2 and outshot the Bruins by 3 with 25 shots all game.

When it comes to High danger chances (as others have said) the Leafs barely had any it seemed.

Maybe game 5 they can score 3 or more.

We’d probably go to overtime every game. Look what happened when we faced Ullmark.

The Bruins only need 22 shots to beat us. But our goalie is good? He hasn’t been good enough to be called mediocre.

We need a goalie who can outperform the other teams goalie, and a forward group who can live up their salaries and score more than 2 goals a game.

Both can be true.

Both are true. But the biggest thing for me is goaltending. Sammy was above.900 once and that’s the game we won.

It’s also difficult to think offensively when you know the other team is probably going to score on most of their chances.

Isn’t it always? Every year around this time I get as cranky as a grizzly coming out of hibernation. Damn Leafs.

Been fossil-hunting out in the swamp for three days straight. I needed some time away from civilization and the river was perfect - slow and low, that is the tempo. No people. Just peace and nature. I checked scores on my phone a couple times, but was otherwise offline. It was nice not having the internet vomit bad news at me all day long.

I found a duffle bag full of fossils and rocks. Nothing super sexy to brag about, just a lot of common stuff that I sell over the course of the year, or trade to other dealers/collectors. Tons of shark teeth (only one small beatup megalodon), turtle, deer, mammoth ivory (broken shards), mastodon teeth enamel (broken pieces), a weird vertebra, and a lot of oddballs. They are still drying out.

I'm (frank)ing exhausted and sore. I come back and my Blue and Whites are digging their own graves while I am gone digging fossil holes.

Did I miss anything exciting?

From the outside - looking in…

Your problem isn’t JUST goaltending. It’s a suspect top 4 defense and a top 6 forward group that doesn’t want to adjust/commit to playoff hockey.

In 2015 the Blackhawks top 4 defensemen were Keith, Seabrook, Hjarlmarsson and Oduya. They basically won the WCF against Anaheim that year.

This “Core-4” concept for TOR is an anchor…

Trying to respond to galactic but having issues. That sounds like fun but I would never go anywhere near a swamp in Florida. Snake phobia.

You subscribe to the theory that the goalie not stopping more is why they are losing.

I subscribe to the theory of they need to score more than 2 goals if they want to win like every other team that has won a playoff game this year so far has done in every single win.

If the Leafs. had a great goalie do you actually honestly believe that the Leafs would have won games scoring 2 goals?

I mean you’re entitled to believe that but no other team is doing it this year so far so I’m not sure it makes much sense.

I’ll pile on the goaltending being the problem when they lose close games due to soft goals after they score 3 or more goals.

Until then it’s a lack of scoring to me that is the biggest issue.

No, we need Sammy to play better and maybe we pull one out in overtime. Our offense has dried up but that’s no excuse for our goalie to sport an .880 save percentage.

I'm not a snake fan either. Didn't see any this time. Oddly, did not see a single gator this time. I'm sure they were lurking around in those deep stretches we paddle through. They avoid the shallow parts with rapids where we mostly hunt.
Still gotta be aware of your surroundings at all times. Got black bear, bobcats, and boar hogs also.
