everyone (minus 1 at least) wants to run MM outta town. There will be very few places if any that he would be willing to go to. Advantage other team. He's coming off (so far) a horrendous series. Selling way low. Advantage other team. the return if they can move him will have everyone up in arms that Tree got fleeced as he will. Either way this doesnt end well outside of a massive comeback. - drexel
No doubt, we're not going to get full value on MM, but he's NEVER going to be a performer in a physical, grueling playoff series unless the other team is slow AF. That money is better spent elsewhere. |

Cap space gained is not to be underrated here. AM has proven he can score with anyone on his line, which is what to be expected when you're a top-tier player.
Mitch Marner, that remains to be seen. Maybe on another team, but his lack of scoring/shooting ability will always require him to paired up with a finisher.
Are we going to land a 10M equivalent player for Marner? Highly doubt it. He's a playmaking winger who's made bank off of the back of Matthews by and large, outside of a couple of good seasons with a younger Tavares. |

Until this year I didn't care which of Willy or Marner were moved but it appears they have committed to Willy for the long term which means Mitch is the one to go if they move a core piece.
Don't undervalue the 11M now and what 12.5 M later cap space that moving Marner frees up - that in itself would give Tre the ability to change the make up of this team and seek a more balanced roster.
I honestly don't care if they move Marner and get very little beyond the cap space or not - obviously more is better but if they have to let him walk as a UFA so be it.
It would be interesting to see what he is offered as a UFA by other teams - all the fans from other teams who say he isn't work much would be clamoring for their GM to get him guaranteed.
I mean if Tre trades him he's trading away one year of his contract so to expect much back is probably unrealistic - draft picks and prospects maybe but cap space to target other UFA's is a big win IMO.

Run outta town = Take the team in a different direction and try to construct a more balanced team that can compete in the playoffs.
Im sure they can find a Hockey trade out there. lots of teams would want a 95 point winger

Leafs trade Marner in the offseason & sign a 35 (36 in November) year old Patrick Kane in the summer to a one year 2M dollar contact to take Marner's spot.
This frees up 9M next year (and even more after Marner's extension) to improve the D, goaltending or whatever else Tre wants to use it for in the summer as well as whatever they get in return for Marner (draft picks / prospects).
Detroit can build around Marner, Dylan Larkin and Justin Holl and Alex Lyon. |

dont get me wrong. Im all for changing it up. Might be a let him leave in FA. Just setting the expectations for Tree to cook as very low. |

Leafs fans gotta find someone to blame.
Matthews, morgan and jt have all not played well.
Matthews has two goals in the past 10 playoffs games. Not good enough at all.
Its probably in marmers best interest to be traded, most leafs players don't find success until they have left Toronto. - Fakepartofme
I agree JT Marner Mo have not played well - but I personally think 34 has.
- He was good game 1 (created chances made impact)
- He was amazing game 2 (scoresheet impact)
- He threw 9 hits game 3 (physical impact) while sick
- Looked like he was gonna die game 4 (effort was there)
In addition to those impacts he played his usual solid defensive game, and drew coverage from his teammates affording them more ice…they just didn’t do anything with it. Those are his ever game impact. Absolutely need him to finish a couple more times this series but he hasn’t at all been bad. Those other guys have been bad and contributed nothing. |

Max Domi slides into Auston Matthews’ 1C spot at Leafs practice.
Bertuzzi — Domi — Marner
Knies — Tavares — Nylander
Robertson — Holmberg — Järnkrok
Dewar — Kämpf — Reaves

I dont have a lot of Faith in Tree as a GM ...trading or other things.
but they hired him, what can you do at this point?
I think the Leafs need an actual #1 D.. Rielly is not it.
hes great for what he provides. But hes not the horse you can put out at any time to try and defend

Well Matthews carried the Leafs to their only win so far, and then he got sick with something that looks quite problematic.
Nylander has concussions/headaches.
Tavares is just slowing down, fast (lol).
Marner is the only one without an excuse, I guess that's why he's getting most of the bashing. - Scabeh
Marner is dealing with a high ankle sprain. Some of the ex players on the panels say it might be August before it heals properly. |

Cap space would be nice. Maybe get a couple picks.
I'd take a pair of Marchessault/Teravainen/Monahan/Duchene in replacement.

We'll miss Mitchy's sick plays, and he puts up a boat load of points. But AM has proven he doesn't need MM to be successful, and if we use MM's money to shore up the D, we won't need as much offense. Team culture needs to change. All offense is fun to watch, but it doesn't translate into the playoffs. Big hard D wins championships. |

Ha. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. He doesn’t look like his usual dynamic self. No speed at all through the neutral zone. |

Well it’s most certainly very leafy that Nylander deals with the worst migraines he’s had here as a leaf and then AM contracting something like E Coli right after.
I know there are long odds here but Man I just want a chance, things are not looking good if this is the case. E Coli can last up to a month. |
