I mean us as fans
- way out west

It’s great being the only sweep and we can watch these games carefree relaxed and wait. What we need is extended series up and down the league. Even TB extending Florida is
helpful for a potential ECF because I think that’s who we got if we beat the canes. It certainly will be alot harder now, post cap series

It could, but I wouldn’t say “at this rate.” Despite his playoff performance he scored 31 this year. He needs to average 21 over the next 2 years to do it which is very doable. It’s possible he does it next year. Remember that the regular season is not nearly as difficult as the playoffs to score and he ended the year at a torrid pace.

Either way the caps options are rebuild and not sell many tickets or chase the record and sell out

yeah you are correct, but nobody’s better than Gretzky, not yet anyway

I wonder how many pts Gretzky would get now with less interference and clutching & grabbing then in his day. He’d probably be even better which is nuts

My only concern. I think Laviolette will have them ready, maybe with Chytil in. I believe that should be it for Rempe barring injury.
- JRR1285

No question that Rempe was in this series for Rempe being Rempe and he was effective. Canes being a less physical team should play Chytil instead. I am still cautious though.

One less thing for people to complain about 🙄

I’m sure they’ll make pre- post game appearances

Chytil wouldn’t be practicing if they didn’t expect him to play, so he has to be an option for game 1

Very true. He won't retire until he breaks the record.

Elimination of the red line for the two line pass.

One hit away from being Puddin' Head. Shouldn't happen against the Canes but Aho is a dirty (frank)er.

Offsetting minors not being played 4 on 4. Literally because Edmonton was destroying everyone in that manner.

I'm not sure about this...
Gretzky is unquestionably the G.O.A.T
However I think his scoring might have gone down if he played today simply because the goalies ( and their pads ) are so much larger today that it might keep some of his scoring numbers DOWN.

I can’t remember a less stressful series in our lives no? We caught a break this round and now they need to take advantage of it, let it springboard them to the cup. Let’s go
- Slimtj100

My exact thought. The only time I felt nervous was the last two minutes of game 2. This is why it was important to get the number one seed. Hopefully islanders can give the canes hell on tuesday.

The d zone clears has been the most nerve wracking part. Tonight too for a bit

Really can’t complain about much this series. Everyone chipped in and everyone played well…the PK gets the series Broadway hat imo, they were spectacular. The caps had the best PP since February or something like that

If Gretzky didn’t have to worry about the 2 line pass he may have had a 300 point season

Rempe did his job this series. But yea they need to have a different lineup vs the canes, they’d eat Rempe up

I could easily see JBrod and Chytil playing with Wennberg and Rempe scratched. They’ll need more speed vs the canes is the long and short of it

- Slimtj100

No shot Wennberg comes out. He’s been fantastic on the forecheck and defensively. He’s exactly what the 3rd line needs to be.

Well, it's a good thing we're playing well at 5 on 5, because against the Canes the special teams battle will not be so one-sided.

I think a series with the Canes comes down to the goalie battle.

We’ll have to figure out ways to generate offense. Only scored four goals against them in three games this year.

Going to be a tough series.

Fil aint gonna be on the 4th line we know that. We’ll have to watch the practices lines to see what’s going on. Goodrow Wennberg Vesey I’d assume. Wennberg doesn’t bring much offense and we’ll need more offense vs the canes is the thing, I’m excited to see Cuylle Fil and Kakko

We have options which is a good thing however they line up

Lavi was double shifting Panarin with Wennberg and Kakko, which looks to me like a place holder for Chytil. That moves Cuylle down with Vesey and Goodrow and bumps Rempe out. Rangers are 18-2-1 and 13 in a row with Rempe btw.

Nice series sweep. If Chytil is ready have to take Rempe out. Canes are a higher tempo game and not as physical. Love the kid, but yeah, Chytil would have to be in.

Yea could see that too, 72-21-24/50-21-26 lines

Jmo, but I think we’re playing with fire dressing Rempe vs the Canes. They are a completely different animal, it’s like going from facing a kitten to facing a lion

Boomer talking about this right now lol he’s saying Wennberg on the 4th line

Ya, not so sure Rempe vs the Canes is a good idea.
