Agree to a point here. This is still an overpay for Fedo and we still really have no idea what this guy is at this point. It's 2 years so the term is not really an issue but it is an overpay. If is all comes crashing down we have should be in line for a good draft pick.

Yes, we have no idea what he is, so I won't say it's an overpay until we actually have a sense of what he is.

Is it a gamble? Yes. Is the AAV kinda eye-opening? Also yes.

But I'd rather them bet on a young-ish guy they've drafted, instead of scraping the bottom of the barrel or getting stuck w/ a UFA on a longer term.

Probably was the trade off. Short term but higher money. If that's the case then I am ok as your not tied to him long term.

RP is 25 and signed for 2 seasons. He had a nice season. I am fine with that signing. Seeler should have been traded. They should not resign EJ. If they can find another Walker type on a short term I would be fine with that.

I am not counting on any of the d-men on the Phantoms to make an impression.

RP should have been traded as well. He was on a one-year deal and there are cheaper options for his skill type out there and in the AHL. Another action that contradicts their words are "We are going to play the kids"

Completely agree about the retreads. Been there and done that... I can accept the AAV on a two year deal.

25 is still pretty young. I would have been fine with trading him too. The RP signing is not the type of signing that gets them in trouble or goes against their words. It's not like he is 30.

my point is that players like him are a dime a dozen. Get a trade asset and maybe that turns into the next late round draft pick that signs for 2 years and 6.5 million dollars

I agree he is not special. Just think by the middle of the season he became a known quantity and he was not asking for the world. I do like an abundance of draft picks though.

To me they should be moving out contracts, acquiring assets and making the 26-27 season an early step towards contending. Michkov hopefully comes over that year. Hopefully they have drafted well outside of that and they should have a very good cap situation by then. Risto and Ellis will be in the last year of their deals.

The actual new era of orange hopefully will begin in 26-27. Not competing for the cup that year but starting to trend towards competing.

Role players that the coach can play for 19 minutes of ice time in the biggest game of the season are a dime a dozen?

At some point they'll be able to move the Ellis contract if they want to.
