I don't trust Torts to do any of that. He makes up his mind about a player and that is it. - MBFlyerfan
True, this is where Briere needs to assert himself. Briere controls the roster. |

We both know Torts will roll 2 lines rather than play someone he doesn't like.

Brink and Lycksell should be playing bigger roles this year, and maybe the Flyers get a surprise in training camp. Maybe Rizzo shows he is ready for at least a limited role, or you give Laczynski another shot. - jd250
the assistant gm said no on on the phantoms is ready for next season. 2
ollie and brink already somewhat on the roster. so do they really count as someone to promote? they didn't get a bigger role this season when they were "rebuilding". have a hunch the coach doesn't like brink much aka like allison.
also you really think the flyers will not sign a couple free agent forwards? or make a trade.

Bill,
I know a lot seem to think the plan is to extend Konecny. I don't believe they said anything at the presser of that being in works or something they plan to do?
Could they maybe look to put him out there and see what a return would be over extending him to a large cap for 8 years? - J35Bacher
I wonder if Konecny wants too much money and isn’t interested in giving the Flyers a discount. He’d be stupid if he did. |

8 years starting at 9 million AAV is where I believe the negotiation starts. I am MORE sure about the years than the AAV as I think anything less would be a non starter for Konecny. Hopefully the Flyers see what happened, is happening, with Couturier and they take a lesson from it.
As has been said, an 8 year deal will expire when Konecny is 36. He would turn 29 in March of the first year of the deal so he will already be on the latter part of his prime, and heading towards the downside of his career for the majority of the deal. The Flyers simply can't do it on every level.

I had a dream we signed Stamkos and traded for a few other studs. I don't remember who, exactly, but I woke up in a good mood.
It's nice to dream.

To his own detriment. If I'm the GM I say this is your team, period. Make it work or I'll find someone else to make it work. |

If TK wants this, he will have to look for it outside of the Flyers. I say the negotiation starts at 7 years, $7.5M AAV with a cap at $8M AAV. |

Is the cap hit 7.5 or 8? It can not be both
You would think a player with the skill to build a team around would be worth more than that
I have farts that are smarter than you

I look at it this way. If he is not traded at the draft or during this off-season, he will be resigned. It would be very dumb for the Flyers to go in to the season with him on an expiring deal. It would just be a distraction. All people would ask and talk about is if you are going to resign your best player. This would go on all season long. And the longer it goes, the more it gets to be a distraction as the deadline approaches.

plus the potential for an injury. this is an incompetent organization so nothing will be surprising. |

Cap is going up. No way he gets less than $9mil from the Flyers in my opinion.

Personally, I think this is way too low. This is TK's chance to cash in on a long term deal. His AAV is going to ne north of 8.5M.

Yep.
I wouldn't even entertain it. I would be putting him on the market. Get the best deal you can and move on.
I wonder about Ottawa. Have 2 first rounders. They do have Josh Norris coming back. Could Konecny maybe get you Pinto and the Bos 1st rounder in some package.
I have to think Ottawa wants the playoffs next year after disappointing this year and they have a new owner.

I don't think so honestly. He and his agent probably have a number in mind. I think a home discount would work if we were a team like Boston. AKA: Stay w a team that has a chance to win every year.
I think it will max length and probably 9-9.5M per year. IMO, you trade him and move on. But this is the Flyers and they are going to pay him.

what are the flyers adding? their 2 or 3rd? think they keep pinto.
A tk/laughton package as well is possible as thats what 8 million on the cap? flyers can retina on tk as well (which they should d in any tk deal).
they def want playoffs new owner, new coach, somewhat new gm. they need to make a move? |

I think they do too. I was looking at maybe since Norris comes back and Pinto will need new deal coming off the suspension would they entertain it. They run Stutzle, Norris and i think it was Crieg down the middle.
Pinto fits the type of player they should be looking to try and acquire. |
