If they play better in front of Woll, great. But last night, Hasek would have had trouble. - Woderwick

I think so as well, as innocent as that play looked. Can’t be tentative as a goaler. |

Asking Woll or any other current Leaf goalie to limit a team to 2 or fewer goals … which recently has been the benchmark for Leafs to win is pretty unrealistic-
The offense needs to ramp it up in a hurry - |

You’re not wrong, but sometimes a team is more comfortable playing in front of a certain goalie. It can change the dynamic considerably. |

Boston and Florida are good at dragging games into the mud at 5v5. They sit back, limit chances and hope to eventually get one on the counter.
No team is going to put up big offensive numbers if they're giving up early goals to Boston and Florida. They will shut the door and park the bus.
Need some early saves and need to find a way to get the first one. That'll open things up a bit and allow the Leafs to counter.

Hear hear!
I'm 55 years old. And I come to my love of the Leafs all on my own.
My parents weren't into sports at all, and my older brother is a Habs fan. We are French Canadian.
I've been watching the Leafs since I was a kid. Watching them on an old 12 inch black and white TV I had on my dresser in my bedroom.
I've probably missed watching less than 10 percent of the games since then. Hell, even as a teanager at parties, I'd find a tv and watch the game.
I can tell you that when they lost to the Habs back in the bubble, I condemned them and even bought Kraken swag as I was going to switch teams. But the Leafs are like heroin. Terrible for you, but an addiction all the same.
I just couldn't believe how inept they were while losing to such a crappy team when the path to the cup was easy and clear. Such a disgrace.
There were considerable successes over the years of course. The early nineties to early two thousands was remarkable. 4 semi finals in 10 years and one of the highest winning percentages over that decade.
I just can't figure out this team though.
I mean, Matthews is incredible right? So much better than I ever imagined. I thought he was going to be like a Sundin (which is awesome). But here we are with one of the greatest natural goal scorers of all time.
Marner is a wizard. And kills penalties. Pretty spectacular player in his own right. I'm not the biggest fan though and it's mostly about his maneurisms and personality. Oh, and lack of confidence in him to come up big in the biggest games.
I do love Willy. He's really developed and blossomed.
JT is the quintessential professional and so composed. Maybe he could be a little more emotional, but he certainly showed some when scoring the overtime goal last year to pull them through. And I thought there was an indication from the last game against the Panthers how hard they targeted him. Obviously, they feel he's a straw that stirs the drink.
But then, you see a game like they played last night. How disappointing. But it doesn't surprise me or even upset me. I feel detached. Of course I cheer and shout and get excited. But it's not nearly the same for me since they lost that series to the Habs.
Like I can't get too attached. Or maybe it's just my age or place in my life where other things feel more important?
It's also a bit about being resolved to the fact that the Leafs are just too LEAFY! Like I expect crap like Kadri being suspended 2 years in a row, or Nylander missing games for the first time in years, or your goalie crapping the bed at the most inopportune time, or Tavares getting knocked out by Perry in game 1 (I still think that was an on purpose accident, without trying to hurt him that bad). Or Sundin breaking his arm, or Berard losing an eye, or a bad call (Holl's pick play), the Gretzky high stick...
It feels like this team is outright cursed. That I'm just a fan that is meant to be punished for a lifetime.
There have been a number of really good to great players over the years. Many capable of reversing this curse. But alas we still live with it.
But then again, it's game 1, and a win in the next game gives us home ice advantage. There are plenty of roller-coaster moments throughout a season and especially the playoffs.
The Bruins just seem far more poised and stoic. Until they're not.
I guess we'll see.
But this organization has to demand more. And I believe they will. I would think that if there isn't some considerable success this playoff, that major changes are coming. Be it Keefe, Shanahan or more. I do think Tree will stay somehow. I just can't think there are better options for GM out there right now.
And I think they could even move off of Marner.
So, to sum it all up, I'm always hopeful but guardedly so.
GO LEAFS GO - Leaffrog
Stars have no heart or killer instinct? Coaching?
It was too cold outside? Too many days off, not enough days off?
Whos knows, its always something.
Only 1 poopty game though....onto monday. |

So I got a gift card from skip the dishes and have been looking into it a bit and it’s a crazy ass rip off.
Subway for instance… the steak and cheese sub my gf loves from the store? $12.49. From skip the dishes? $18.99 plus the delivery fee.
Only lazy ass losers who enjoy whining about the cost of living are into this kind of nonsense. I guess if you’re working from home or have kids that’s understandable but otherwise… nope. |

Meh. Same old same old with this team. Don’t start on time, not enough intensity, shut down the stars and take advantage of weaker goaltending and defence. Marner and Tavares were invisible last night, nice to see Mitch getting back to his scared playoff ways. Bertuzzi looked like he still played for the Bruins in the 1st period.
They should have traded Nylander for some defensive help instead of resigning him. If Marner doesn’t turn it around this playoff season then it’s time to consider somehow parting with him instead of resigning him. Retool around Matthews, Knies, Domi, Bertuzzi, Reilly, McMann, etc.
I don’t care too much about the game one loss. It’s how they lost it that concerns me. Hopefully game two is a better effort. |

They had some unforced errors for sure but this was not a game where the ice was tilted. Swayman was really good, Sammy was below average and a few leafs made some stupid decisions. |

The BS fees are as ridiculous as Leafs playoff hockey
I had to stop using the app in good conscience. It was a joke to pay $40 for something you could get for $18 if I got in the car. Not really exaggerating either. Pizza/subs/burritos doesn't matter, pay at least as much in delivery and fees as the food itself.
I hate being blantantly ripped off. |

Yup.
I hate that I was right, I said the Leafs would lose big in game 1 and Woll would start game 2 and Sammy would not play another game for the Leafs.
Woll is simply the better goalie. I love that Sammy got his career back on track, he had a nice run there after a terrible place he was in mentally.
Sammy earned the game 1 start, he (frank)ed it and now it's time for Woll to get a chance who is just simply the better goalie. |

Yeah thankfully ours is a first time thing and it was a gift card from mom. Going to let her know about this too. We have around $19 left on the app so hell if all we get is a 6” sub for my gf and knock it down to only having a couple bucks left good enough 👍
Due to my epilepsy I’m not allowed to drive, thankfully we have loads of places, including subway, within a walking distance. I happily enjoy that over getting ripped off to get something dropped off at my door.
Thanks for your reply, been looking over everything wondering if I was just bloody well insane lol (kind of but not over this lol). The only places that keep their prices “close” are the ones that demand you order a minimum of 2 or 3 things. |

I like what you’re saying but I feel bad for Edmundson… can he play the right side? I’d like to see him get a shot with a partner like Gio. Willing to bet he’d look a hell of a lot better. |

...press box Joel and go with Gio and Lilly as a pair. Gio smart enough to protect Lilly and not put him in bad spots like Joel did -
TJ and Gio would just be way too slow and a turnover waiting to happen... gotta at least have some wheels back there besides Riles.
The main thing is to get Willy Styles back.. You could def see them missing him bad.

Nope, truly curious about that one. They won’t openly say why which is a smart move in case he’s still a bit sore when returning but can play at least. Don’t give Boston a specific target on his body. |
