I didn’t catch the beginning but I didn’t really have a problem with a lot of what he was saying. I think people’s sensitivity of benching coots and the “balls” comment is laughable. people just don’t like Torts. If Lavi did/said this stuff they’d lap it up.

He got reduced minutes as the season went on and showed fatigue. Are we going to walk on egg shells with the guy at the start of every season just in case?

It’s not like he was injured at the start of the season and was being thrown out there hurt. He had a full summer to train and prepare and we all said how good he looked. How are we complaining that Coots got the minutes he should be getting? Surely you didn’t want RP playing those minutes from the start of the season so that we “play it safe” with Sean?

People are saying we overplayed him early on… but he’s your #1 guy and was healthy. You’re not gonna sit a guy or give him a reduced role when he looks fine and was playing well, which we all agreed at the start of the season “wow look how much better we are with Coots in the lineup”

Some here are basically saying he shouldn’t be playing those minutes when he came into the season healthy.

If Coots needed to sit I have no problem. It was the Torts carnival that I think made the situation worse. It was apparent Torts was not communicating w/ the Captain and then the refusal to speak to the press only made the situation worse. Just come out and say we think Coots needs a few days off to get over the injuries.

Torts said he let him know the day before and the coaching staff followed up with video. I think Coots saying he doesn’t know why is being misconstrued and what he’s really saying is he didn’t agree with it. Which is what a prideful pro would and should do.

He apologized to media multiple times and said he handled certain things wrong. I think he’s been plenty accountable. I’m still upset that the PP doesn’t seem to be changing but I was right - outside consultants incoming lol

Are we going to spoon feed him 9 minutes a night at the start of every season just in case he gets hurt later? For 6 years? He looked great the first half of the year. Minutes were reduced accordingly. I think it’s backwards to not give the player you respect so much a chance to play when he’s healthy. You want RP taking those minutes on opening day?
