Oh I agree JD...they should not be signing anyone...unless something special falls into their lap. Make some trades, keep the big 3 bad contracts, no need to impact the 25-26 season because of bad contracts. play the young guys and take advantage of their ELC's so the bad caps can just be absorbed. The year is probably a lost year anyways due to where they are at. - TheFreak
I have heard this enough to know Torts is full of poop. |

Seriously, this is what we are doing now? Drysdale is 21 years old! He was rushed in to the NHL by the Ducks, and not surprisingly his body was not ready for NHL hockey. There is still plenty of off-seasons for Drysdale to build up his strength and develop into a steady NHL defenseman with high offensive skill. Give the kid a chance.
And as far as Gauthier is concerned, I'm sorry, but having a RHS top 4 defenseman is INFINITELY MORE valuable than a top 6 winger. Gauthier will put up his garbage time points playing with Karlsson in front of a fan base that could care less. Best of luck to him. I care about seeing Drysdale. Let me break it to you, Drysdale is not Kale Makar. He will take a few years to develop. Patience is required. - jd250
At this point in time who would you rather have on your team? Gauthier or Drysdale? I get that Drys is young but the injuries are a major concern. He has skill but right now, all things being equal, I would say that 90% of folks would pick Gauthier every day of the week. He has time but he needs the right development and he needs to get stronger and keep his head up.

I think most teams that are "rebuilding" want to emulate the champs - bradster
1) Benefit from a once-in-league-history generous expansion draft rule set,
2) Accumulate a mountain of major assets to agree not to poach certain players from nervous GMs,
3) Use that mountain of assets to continuously trade for top-shelf players,
4) Capitalize on the once in a generation Jack Eichel situation,
5) Have guys like Stone who are willing/able to sit out the regular season only to return for the playoffs so you can spend way above the cap.
What part of that could the Flyers even begin to copy? They could try to copy Vegas' size or play style, but without Stone/Eichel/Petro/March/Theo/etc it would be meaningless. |

Right, and the result of that has been a major shoulder injury that has required surgery and might require more. Doesn't matter who played who. the damage is still done to the players body.
Gauthier will be twice the player Drysdale is. It was not a fair trade...a top prospect league wide, not just on the Flyers..traded for a small dman that has had a major injury already, and seems a bit brittle, and a second. I could stomach it more if we got a first and Drysdale for Gauthier.
Give it a rest. He is a hell of a player. - TheFreak
No, I think you need to give it a rest! So because a player has a major injury at a young age means they cannot have a productive NHL career? Is that your assessment? I'm sure you can't think of one player that had a major injury and went on to have not just a great career but a hall of fame career?
And you make this statement "Gauthier will be twice the player Drysdale is" like it's fact. It's not! You have no idea what either player will be in the NHL. It's humorous to me that you can rush to judgement with such little data on what either player will be.

He isn't rooting against him. I'm rooting against him. This turd is rooting for him and I don't feel like being civil cause the obsession with this guy is gonna be off the charts that want to see this blow up in the Flyers' face. I'll be outta here in a few minutes cause some of us actually have better things to do then come to a site and whine about a team that they don't even like. - Phillywhiteout
The hell are you talking about?
I was critical of Cutter before the Flyers even drafted him. I'm one of the only people on here who's maintained this whole time that he is not an elite player.
Posting info on his debut isn't rooting for him. It's a story of interest.

Sure, people always pick the player they know less about. At this point let's give them both a season and see what happens. In the end, I will take a top 4 RHS defenseman over a winger, even a very good winger. But I agree, there is a concern here. Drysdale needs to get stronger and show he can play a full season. |

Agreed. I am hopeful for Drys but right now I would consider CG a better player. For an offensive dman the kid put up a whopping 10 points this year. He has a long way to go but he has time on his side. Hopefully, the injuries are behind him and he can build some strength in the offseason. |

I think JD/Gauthier will end up being a lot like York/Caulfield for Flyers fans.
Gauthier and Caulfield are the more hyped players. But York definitely closed the gap on Caulfield this season. Hopefully Drysdale does the same with Gauthier.

No, not my assessment, but his injury history is something you can't overlook. I never said he can't become something, but Jamie Drysdale is not equal to or better than Gauthier. A top line center/ winger is more valuable than a second pairing dman.
Yet you classify Gauthier as a product of his teamamtes, one dimensional, going to pick up garbage points because of Carlsson, lucky to be drafted, a "top 6" player in Anaheim, yet he is a top line player and has been everywhere he has played. |

I really hope so. I actually feel bad for Drys b/c he is ALWAYS going to be compared to Gauthier. Just the nature of the business. He needs to have a great offseason to build strength and stay away from the injuries which is always a crap shoot w any player.
