From the Inquirer today:
If the Flyers do not want to trade assets, which they would need to do to get a guy like Trevor Zegras from Anaheim, who has been rumored to be on the move, they need to look to free agency. Sam Reinhart, Jonathan Marchessault, Tyler Toffoli, and Jake Guentzel are four veteran guys who know how to put points on the board. Adding a guy like this isn’t the end-all-be-all, as the Flyers could use some other additions, but the core is in place — it’s just figuring out the rest.
So now we have our core, and should be targeting guys in their late 20's for an overpay on both years and term.
Read yesterday that they are working on an extension for Lappy. Good god. |

Deslaurier needs to be in Lehigh next season. That contract can be buried for the remainder of it.
If I can't move Atkinson then I send him to Lehigh so that roster spot can used for someone else.
Have to look at moving Laughton
I believe they need to move Konecny.
Move out Ristolainen if you can.
These moves I think NEED to happen. |

The rebuild was always a rebrand. A change in marketing to assuage a fanbase who had turned sour and lost patience faster than Dave Scott lost his testicular fortitude during the Hextall years.
Hilferty and Scott have the same goals. One is competent at fooling the fanbase the other was not. |

Brilliant! Why on earth would you compare those two players you dip$hit? Are you really this stupid in every day life?

Awwwe, big, proud "real fan" cant stand when anyone dares to call the Flyers out for their ineptness
The problem is the Flyers not an immature kid
you deserve a sub 500 barely good enough to be a bubble team, you pig
besides, they (frank)ed up drafting him in the first place. Jiricek should have been the pick. Now theyve been embarrassed by a TOP PROSPECT and further embarrassed themselves with their actions afterward (although, "real fans" like yourself, eat that poop up, hook, line and sinker) and ended up with a worse D man than Jiricek
loved how you avoided my post that addresses the reality of the situation after you you wanted to spread your vomit on every other post I made for the last three days, you coward pig - THE BLACK HAND

His injury history is getting to be a huge red flag. He's played 42 games with only 10 points over the last 2 seasons with multiple lengthy absences due to injuries to the same shoulder. The same shoulder which now might need a procedure this offseason.
Going into next year, his last healthy season will be 3 years ago.
You have to think if Briere hadn't had playoff fever that they hold onto Cutter until the offseason. The Ducks were laughing all the way to the bank with this one.

Seriously, this is what we are doing now? Drysdale is 21 years old! He was rushed in to the NHL by the Ducks, and not surprisingly his body was not ready for NHL hockey. There is still plenty of off-seasons for Drysdale to build up his strength and develop into a steady NHL defenseman with high offensive skill. Give the kid a chance.
And as far as Gauthier is concerned, I'm sorry, but having a RHS top 4 defenseman is INFINITELY MORE valuable than a top 6 winger. Gauthier will put up his garbage time points playing with Karlsson in front of a fan base that could care less. Best of luck to him. I care about seeing Drysdale. Let me break it to you, Drysdale is not Kale Makar. He will take a few years to develop. Patience is required. |

The flyers are an absolutely terrifying hockey model right now. The buck stops with me if torts had a heavy hand in scouting and pushing for drysdale.
The flyers are just a meat grinder of an organization chewing up hockey seasons and spitting them out with absolutely nothing to build or plan off of from year to year. |

Torts I believe won’t play hardball with Atkinson. There is no way he sends him to Lehigh. A buyout is the most likely scenario |

The Flyers are not in the position to grossly overpay for a free agent in this class. And with the cap going up, I believe the free agents contracts that will be handed out this off-season will be gross overpays. The Flyers are best to sit this one out. |

If you stop thinking of the Flyers as a hockey team and think of them as a time slot that Comcast needs to fill 82 times a year it all makes more sense. It also explains the front office.
As long as viewership and merchandise sales is up, why should they care about anything else?

Yes, Atkinson will be bought out, there is really no other option. He has 0 trade value and the Flyers would never embarrass him by sending him down. |

the core is in place lol....what a fn delusional management group. None of those guys would have any interest in the flyers unless a severe overpay.

I think Drysdale has the chance to be really good. I watched all the York experts bury that kid and kept hearing how the Flyers passing on Caufield for him was a monumental mistake. Now it’s died down a little after York really started to come in to his own the last 50 games or so. Simply put he was their most dependable d man.
Drysdale is small, but as you mention he is still a kid….as he matures and becomes stronger hopefully he can handle the physical part of the game better. There is a reason why this guy was a top 1o pick.
As far as losing quitter? It sucks, it was a un forced error, but what else do you do but move on.
If Ana is horrid again next year….which is a distinct possibility that second round pick is also going to be a decent pick in what’s shaping up to be a deeper draft then this year. |

so patients is required you say. You think the flyers iwll have that patients?
JD is not a top 4 dman as of yet. He hasnt shown high offensive skill as of yet. |

Yea. The opinions from most of us here are not shared widely throughout the fanbase just when you scour other message boards, flyers reddit etc. I’d say 90% have the orange goggles on and actually see this year as a stepping stone to success. It’s wild

What’s more embarrassing….being sent down because you are no longer an NHL player or buying him out? It’s a waste for what they are trying to accomplish to waste a buyout next year and have more $ move to 25-26. |

Like who? I am not counting MM at this time. There is not 1 player on the flyers roster who I say yes lets build around this player. They are all complimentary plyers to me.
Maybe JD (just based on potential). |

Believe it or not, I think Deslauriers has some trade value with only 2 years remaining and a small cap hit. I look for Deslauriers to be a throw in for a larger trade this off-season. It will be hard for the Flyers to trade Risto at this point coming off an injury and with 3 years left on his deal. The best to hope for is Risto has a good season with the Flyers and with the cap going up, a team might want him next off-season with 2 years remaining on his deal. I agree Laughton should be moved with the emergence of Poehling. |

So the only other option for the Flyers is to keep Atkinson on the team as a healthy scratch. Is that what you think is the best option? |
