I’d throw big money at a guy like Henrique for a year. Flip at the deadline - Just5
Why? The objective is stop wasting cap space. Well unless the assumption is purely based on the "fliP" and thinking the Flyers will get a 1st rounder because Anaheim did...that's not going to happen. |

The Flyers should have 2 things as their main priorities:
1) Draft more skill that can play in the NHL
2) Stop adding to their deficit, the only solution is time
$31,463,095
Ellis
Petersen
Hayes
Deangelo
Ristolainen (LTIR?)
Atkinson (Buyout?)
Johansen (Buyout/LTIR?)
That's a HEFTY dead cap situation for next year, not even including future mysteries to happen.
That could technically pay for 2-3 almost elite type players, if the Flyers ever get 1. Instead they go the Voltron route and try to piece together and use the same cap. |

If the cap goes up to 87.5m that's almost 36% used for nothing.

It's the Flyers, didn't they say the same about Coots? Missed a year, actually more. Said same about Ellis, now he's dead. Even Atkinson should be good for the season then missed the whole year. Even Nolan went through that. Obviously that situation was more justified, but they lied through the whole process.

He isn't rooting against him. I'm rooting against him. This turd is rooting for him and I don't feel like being civil cause the obsession with this guy is gonna be off the charts that want to see this blow up in the Flyers' face. I'll be outta here in a few minutes cause some of us actually have better things to do then come to a site and whine about a team that they don't even like. - Phillywhiteout
The lack of self awareness you have is astounding. You have no awareness that you constantly whine about other posters while accusing them of whining. It's hysterical.

If they aren’t going to burn it down, which they won’t, then I would use cap space on 1 year vet deals. It’s 1 year there’s no harm in it |

Precisely why they can’t do any more buyouts. Stop the stringing out of $$ and just eat it. And let Atkinson ride a bus for a year he’s not owed a spot on the team or a buyout. Ridiculous |

So easy to understand.
The Flyers for years have blamed their players, and talked non stop about accountability in the locker room, or on the ice.
Have you seen any accountability in the front office in the last decade? Or more specifically after Fletcher was let go?

Yeah, he really handled the benching in the final game with class? He was smiling on the bench! WTF! A competitive player would have been pissed off, but good ole Frosty already had his tee times setup for the next morning. I hope he gets outta here too, but for different reasons than you. Thanks! - Phillywhiteout
The above is a completely idiotic post that lacks any semblance of common sense.

Oh, so now I apparently live in a trailer! This conversation just keeps getting better and better. Did you watch the games this year? They competed in just about every game until they ran out of gas down the stretch. The accountability off the ice remains in question and we shall see how that plays out, but this team played hard this year. - Phillywhiteout
When do we have the parade for playing hard?

they are absolutely going out of their way to control the narrative, i think we all see that. and maybe not you - but others - are cognizant enough to see how they operate, cognizant enough to know that things are likely not changing any time soon, but not smart enough to start following another team. those folks only do damage to themselves, their blood pressure, their mental health, their happiness, and, very likely, their sexual function.
i think we should all go spend some time with our families today

Fine with this.
This does not make sense. Even if Atkinson, Johansen and Petersen are banished to the AHL, they will still eat up $11.4 million in cap space as well as three roster spots (the Flyers are at 49/50 currently). Add in the TDA buyout and Hayes retention in that scenario and you're losing $16.7 million in cap space for 2024-25. If any of those three remain on the NHL roster (as healthy scratches or whatever), you can add in $1.15 million more per player. It's going to be hard to weaponize cap space if there is none, and trading any of those three is going to be impossible without giving up assets or taking back a bad contract. Add in having less (or no) available contracts to sign prospects, the likelihood of those players taking playing time from young guys, and the negative effect of having a guy like Atkinson sit all the time and it's pretty much a losing scenario all the way around.
Johansen was acquired with a buyout as his ultimate fate if no one picked him up on waivers (which was the case). If he can be bought out (i.e. he's not still injured at buyout time), he will be.
Petersen will stick around as the Phantoms backup goalie and the Flyers will continue to eat his $3.85 million cap hit and let him go after Bjarnason is old enough to play in the AHL (which won't be until the 2025-26 season).
The only real question here is what to do with Atkinson. Perhaps another team would take a chance on him at 50% retention. Considering how precipitously he declined, it's not likely without even more sweetener.
Also fine with this. Kolosov is young (22) and likely to only get better. - Pelle Schultz Why push cap into a year when we might need it?
Peterson is UFA after 24/25...so he will be gone next summer like all 3 of them.
Danny hardly weaponized the cap space this year...what makes you think he will next year? They shouldn't be signing UFA's at this point, so no need for contract space...ride it out, make it Torts last year, and start fresh in 25-26
