Would make that trade in a hearbeat - might even throw in a 2nd round pick in addition. - RickJ
So Rick, your prediction of the Toronto Boston series? If the regular season superstars, Marner, Matthews and Bystander do more than play like point producing perimeter players I think they can win. But if they are afraid to engage as they have shown in previous playoffs I think they go out quickly. |

As horrifying as the possibility of the Leafs ever winning anything is for me, I think they can beat the Bruins this year. Boston looks tired to me and the Leafs are superior down the middle of the ice which is key for puck possesion and offence. Bruins have the better goaltending and defence corps.
Brad Marchand will find a way to 'accidently' injure Matthews or Rielly or Marner and Pastrnak will score when it counts because he always does. Bruins in 7.

Not sure why we think Necas is available. Carolina apparently has $27M available with 16 player signed. I'd think they have room to pay him. - mohel
27 millions to pay Skjei, Pesce, Jarvis, TT and figure out what to do with Guentzel and fallout the roster.
That money gets eaten up really fast there so someone is probs going to be available. |

Nothing wrong with being a fan of a player and hoping he can get his career back on track.
Even though Bowman had an obvious Seabrook replacement and a now Norris Trophy candidate staring him right in the face when he drafted Boqvist instead - Noah Dobson. - RickJ
Bouchard very good as well. |

Yeah, but If Stan drafted Dobson instead of Boqvist, he would have been traded to the Jackets for Seth Jones. We all know that.

I think Boston has an advantage because their goaltending is that much better but it's probably a toss up. With how mediocre the Leafs are in goal and average on the blue line it's going to be difficult for them to outscore their way through the playoffs. It's not like they're the 2010 Hawks.
I don't think either of those teams beat Florida or Tampa. |

Yakemchuk will be long gone by #19...
Necas signing in a heartbeat.
Would you trade a top 2-4 pick to Seattle for C Shane Wright? - wiz1901
Oooohh, that’s an intriguing question. I’m not opposed to trading the Hawks pick if they land in the 2-4 slot, but I don’t know if Wright is enough. I wouldn’t be against it, but it depends on who is still available and what KD is looking for. If he wants a d-man and Levshunov is available then keep the pick. |

You know i look at Pastrnak and keep thinking is that what Eiserman can be? If the scouting dept says so i believe they draft him over anyone else other than Celebrini.

The key to the rebuild is not to chase RFAs, prospects, it's to let them fall into your lap. Like KD didn't make any deals for bad contracts because the offers weren't good enough.

If KD decides to get some outside young talent, there's always the offer sheet route. An offer of 2.1M - 4.29M to someone will only cost a 2nd round pick and would likely get an good established player. An offer in the 4.29M to 6.43M range would cost a 1st and a 3rd.
Necas would probably fall into the latter range as probably would Casey Middlestadt. Lucas Raymond would be a good catch, but Detroit has tons of cap space and could match. Kakko is a RFA, but I'm not sure he's worth pursuing.

I really don't think he will offer sheet any RFAs, i think it creates bad blood, like what happened between the Habs and Canes.
The new GM of the Habs traded for the rights to Newhook. Could of done an offer sheet. |

Agree, just threw it out there. Offer sheets are rare and I'm sure the bad blood factor is a reason.

The offer sheet is - on paper - a solid option. It would obtain a player young enough to be a long-term addition to the next core. The problem is that the offer sheet is almost as common these days as the do-do bird. The other problem is that the player has to agree to sign with the Hawks. |

Rockford Icehogs won their game tonight with Ludwinski in the lineup however Lardis has not been in a game yet - but two games remain in regular season
Dach had a goal and assist; he was named first star⁵ - jhawk59
That pass by Kaiser was a beaut, you can see the hockey processor speeding up in his play.

Turning around? Foligno is correct. KD needs to get some real NHL players this off-season. No. There are some interesting names available this summer that would certainly help. Cripes, at the very least allow them to spend more time in the O-zone and not have to defend for 75% of the game. - Elbows15
You will get one on dee and maybe one on forward... |

eth Jones said he thought having a lot of players on 1-2 years contracts can be challenging to get them to buy into putting the team first and not be playing for their next contracts. |

I was looking at it in the perspective Necas gets hard feelings after the arbitration and the look for takers on him after that.
A lot of decisions on the Chicago side cannot even be decided until they know where their draft slot is.
If the Hawks pick #1 or #2, they are done with winning lotteries, according to the rules - so they could trade the 2025 first first rounder to Carolina.
This certainly gets both sides a reason to make the trade.
More interesting is that this question: Is a team that acquires a Hawk pick excluded from a lottery win? I think not.
Hawks, to accelerate the rebuild and Carolina to finally get a shot to select in the early selections to start the next gen of replacements. |

The ironic thing is that historically players play harder when trying to earn their next contract. |

As a gm i wouldn’t do it. That top 5 pick has more value to me than someone who is a really solid NHL player who I'm going to have to pay good money for. I'd rather keep the draft pick and enjoy the ELC years of his development.
No matter how you try there is no accelerating this rebuild.
When you look back on it would Ottawa rather have Korchinski on his rookie deal or Chychrun? Last thing i want to do is help any other team than our own.
Let's be real here there's a good chance they draft in the top 5 next year and most likely top 10 the following year. |

He could be playing harder at one end of the ice that helps his stats, to back check, board battle block a shot, maybe not do much. |

I thought ADB was traded for KK’s spot in the draft? I don’t think trading that pick had anything to do with the former GM’s thought on trading for Chykryn at the TDL.
