12 total goals in this game so far… I should have bet the over. |

Huh, I just turned it on a few minutes ago. I had to double take when I first score the score. - Chief4Feathers
Where is the defense? Despite Avalanche 43-23 shot advantage. WHO to blame? Team defensive effort? Toews and Manson -3 although Maker is even at "0." Caleb Jones 11:57 TOI. But is also even at "0." |

I wouldn't mind the Blackhawks signing DeMelo. |

This.
But also it appeared during the regular season tha some players thoughtvthey could just show up and be a supetiorvtram without putting in the work ethic. One of the top players criticized his teamattes for such .....this was a few months ago but it looks like the Avslanche had the same issue in game one
Was Georgiev stopping shots he needed to stop; was he good - I bet that team needs a leader to push his teamattes to a better effort..May not be enough though with CA Jones playing and among an overrated defense. How well was J Johnson performance? |

Of course WPG isn't playing COL all the time but 90$ of the time I watch Peg Morrissey is the best player on the ice....... Kaiser a poor man's Morrissey? - Mr Ricochet
While some want a Karlsson type of defenseman, I’ll take the all round Morrissey, and man do I hope that Korchinski becomes a Morrissey clone. No sense in wishing for a Makar type, that guy is on a different planet. |

Agree with you, all round defenceman like Morrissey, Mattias Ekholm and Ryan McDonagh when he was a little younger are so valuable to a team. Can play them in every situation. |

Exit interviews will be interesting. He can't come out and say we're going to be much better simply because there may only be 2 players available instead of 4 so he has to be somewhat pragmatic about how much is possible this off season.
This is from the article and not something that is acceptable or going to attract veterans down the road if they continue with the status quo:
Johnson, for one, made his departure quite obvious. The veteran forward, who tallied 17 goals and 14 assists this season, described his three-year Chicago tenure as “not exactly what I had envisioned or wanted.” - fattybeef
Says the guy who in the last 5 years has been injured more games than he played for 5 mil a year, give me a break

While we are being fair to poor Mr.Johnson considering his disappointment with the Hawks not being a competitive team, need to take a look at the other side of the coin.
During the 3 seasons in Chicago while he was being grossly overpaid at $5M per year he missed a total of 97 games and posted a cool plus/minus of negative 64 against 32 goals scored.
So the Hawks paid him about 470 grand for each of his goals.
Only a guess but have to think they tried to trade him but found no interest anywhere, even at this years trade deadline when they would have retained 50%.
Good riddance, glad to see him gone. - RickJ
Not to mention, (frank)ing Stan let Tampa out of Cap hell with the trade for nothing.
You know what you are worth when you are traded for nothing???

Reportedly when the door hit him in the ass on his way out it fractured his coccyx.
Didn’t Stanbo take TJ back in the trade that sent Seabs there and whatever was left on his deal? Think we got a 2nd too.
I know when we got Johnson he had embraced a bottom 6 role on TBL, but in addition to being injured a lot he just wasn’t very good anymore. Every time I see something that says he had 17 G’s this year, it leaves me wondering how. |

Well that answers that. The Trib this morning has a similar report to what was in The Athletic yesterday which hopefully bodes well.
Would be nice to get a few guys that can help drive play and keep the puck in the opponent's zone for more than an occasional cup of coffee. |

Still left from the Bowman era:
Jones
Murphy
Kurashev
Do you think KD moves any of the 3 in the offseason?
Most likely Murphy could be moved, depending on who KD brings in via FA or trade, Kurashev would be next but highly unlikely, again depending on how player acquisition works out, and then Jones, because I think KD and LR think more highly of Jones as a player than the majority of fans.

I’d hope KD doesn’t move anyone strictly because they came from the Bowman team. I think Jones’ contract makes him un-tradable. Not so sure Murphy is a bargain until the TDL of his last season. And why, with the progress of this past season would KD move Kurashev unless there’s a good package coming back. |

Kurashev has progressed with his point total, but IMO his compete level still makes him worthy of playing for the Leafs. He doesn't win very many board battles (if he even engages), gets knocked off the puck easily, and I don't think he consistently works hard on the defensive side of the puck.

I should have qualified and said playing in the NHL when Bowman was still GM.

The Blackhawks probably in conjunction with their Rockford Icehogs farm team have inserted two prospects who were recently signed to AHL short term contracts.
In the final regular season contest both Lardis and Misiak are skating against the Wolves this afternoon.
Another recently signed prospect, Ludwinski, has been in the lineup for a few games and had one assist
After two periods the game today is even 2-2 while non of those prospects have points
The prospects most likely do not appear in playoffs but the pro experience as well as summer development camp should help in their development
Lardis is only 18 and needs to add bulk and strength while Misiak is a big size kid. Both have seen Pp and Pk duty in the game today. The Icehog announcer opined after period two that both have fit right in with the pace of action and you can tell they are talented kids.
As far as the AHL playioffs, The Icehogs would receive a boost in the playoffs if Bjork returned from injury. He was in the midst enjoying a strong productive offensive (stat’s) season.
One other comment: Saarela is back from injury and needs only an assist today for a Gordie Howe hat trick - jhawk59
Thanks for the Ice Hogs updates by the way. We haven't had so much Rockford reporting since the days of Theo Fox.

It's anecdotal for sure, but most fans from other teams that I speak to have a pretty high opinion of Jones. They don't even think he is really overpaid (maybe by $1M). |

Few, if anyone, on this board, thought Kurashev would get to where is now. There are still things he can work on, and more importantly there is time to see if he can get there. Like any move you always make a move that improves the team within the plan of a rebuild. I see no hurry to move Kurashev.

LA finds himself at a jrs game! Careful now, once you catch that jrs hockey bug, especially the OHL/WHL/QMJHL/USHL/Jr A it's almost impossible to quit it. .... Very cool to hear.
Don't be scared to post what you see when you go to jrs games.
