Such a low bar. Incrementally better than the worst team in Hawks history since the league went to 70 games.
Interesting to see who besides T. Johnson was tired of hearing about building the next great Hawk team. I would assume KD would get rid and f those not on board with losing for futures. - LAHawk
Yes, if you read The Athletic article, that's exactly what KFC is saying that he hopes to lose this many games again next season, maybe more and that it's all about futures.
I know some of you all aren't on board with the rebuild, but maybe we could wait til KFC actually does nothing in FA, instead of whinging about it now and constantly for the months leading up to it. Just a thought. |

T Johnson was not living up to his contract. Wonder how he felt he was traded to the Blackhawks with a 2nd round pick. Who's going to sign him for anything more than a vet minimum. If he wanted to play for a playoff contender maybe he should of actually played better during the season.
Most of these players won't be resigned because they were underperforming for their playoff teams well except Ottawa because they couldn't manage the cap, hahaha, great GMing again.
I really don't have time for whiny hockey players. Bring the hungry kids up, even Entwistle said i really hope i get another contract from the Blackhawks.
I take it you are more of an instant gratification person. I'm not, I'm willing to sacrifice for today to have something better tomorrow.

My point was missed trying to be snarky, sorry
What I should of said is I wonder who won’t be signed/traded because they played only for themselves than the team as pointed out by Foligno, Richardinson , and Jones. |

KD is realistic and right in line with what many of us have been saying.
"Davidson’s talking points didn’t reflect any departure from his long-established plan, but he made it clear he believes the tearing-down stage of the rebuild is complete. Now the gradual building-up stage can begin.
Next season will mark the first of the Davidson era with any established expectations for the team to meet. They won’t include contending for a playoff spot; Davidson admitted that’s not realistic yet. But a reasonable guess is that those expectations will include winning at least 30 games or so (they won 23 this season), although Davidson didn’t offer any specifics." - breadbag
Which coincides with all the bad contracts expiring that he has traded for, bought out and Keith's retirement |

Very tough listening to the exit comments from Saturday. The coach admitting his practices were too soft. Foligno calling out teammates, coaches and staff. Jones saying guys were playing for themselves instead of the team. Hoping for some big changes this offseason instead of picking up Okposo for 2 years at $4 million so they "get more character." - stevefrmglencoe
The coach said he thought his practices were too long, not soft. |

Whoops! Sorry.
Idk, not sure how dead on any of that was or if it's guys just grasping for answers. |

I don’t know man… I’m kinda digging lottery draft picks and all this glorious cap space. Playoffs, Stanley Cups… it’s kind of a hassle? |

Hahaha, like anything in life if the KiD is right more than he's wrong, playoffs and pressed against the cap will be here real quick.
Bedard, Nazar, Korchinski will get new contracts the same year. |

He does, and work on faceoffs, and his strength and understanding his defensive responsibilities. |

Hey, I’m watching round one playoff games with a drink in my hand and ZERO stress. It’s a beautiful thing. |

Nice, Lindgren looks confident in net. Rangers really brought it in the 1st period. |

Here's an article about what KD says, so in my opinion he's staying within the parameters of the rebuild. - BetweenTheDots
Exit interviews will be interesting. He can't come out and say we're going to be much better simply because there may only be 2 players available instead of 4 so he has to be somewhat pragmatic about how much is possible this off season.
This is from the article and not something that is acceptable or going to attract veterans down the road if they continue with the status quo:
Johnson, for one, made his departure quite obvious. The veteran forward, who tallied 17 goals and 14 assists this season, described his three-year Chicago tenure as “not exactly what I had envisioned or wanted.” |

The Leaves thread last night was entertaining. - mohel
No push from the back end and lotta dumb penalties. If your defenders can't defend OR exit the zone you're going to have a bad time. Domi was a whole lotta stupid.
Tavares also looks cooked. He was never a burner but gosh did he look slow last night.
I think that is one of those teams that need to move a key piece and look to do something on the fly while Matthews is still under 30. Not dissimilar to what Florida did except maybe for help on the blue line instead of a power forward. |

Because they haven’t proven anything or won a cup like the others? - paulr
But none of them won a cup until they won a cup? Seems like a chicken and egg rationale. |

I thought he said his practices were to long and thinks that's the reason for the slow starts in games. - BetweenTheDots
I listened to it again. He specifically said shorter and harder. Said that they eased into practice and they were easing into games which contributed to the bad starts.

Well considering they have plenty of late round draft capital if a team isn't going to resign a free agent they can target the ones they want and give up a late round pick for the rights to negotiate before they hit the open market. |

Not me quality NHL defenseman do not grow on trees. We have an asset and people want to trade thinking they are trading up? Look at the list of forwards we were able to draft over the years, now look at the list of defenseman.NJ thought it would be easy peasy, trade and sign for a power forward and get rid of 2 solid in their own end defenseman because of cap issues and bring up 2 kids to replace them. Not so much.
Best available please, KD has said that is the position they are in. - BetweenTheDots
Jersey also kind of a tough one because Hamilton missed basically the whole year and they had a myriad of injury issues. They had 2 defenders play 82 games and one at 75. Thats a lot of disruption.
A veteran team like Tampa can probably adjust but a young team like that probably gonna have a bad time.
Plus they don't have a goaler to make up for it. |
|
|
|
Poor goaltending and Hamilton missing over 60 games had more to do with Jersey’s missing the playoffs than Timo Meyers’s “poor” 28 goal season. - LAHawk
Meier also only played 69 games. Hughes was less than that. |

Luke Richardson said he’s probably going to hold shorter but more intense practices next season.
He wondered whether them easing into practices this season and having longer sessions factored into the slow starts. #Blackhawks
