If Briere had any "balls" he would be thinking about moving on from Torts. Not sure how you can sit in your office last night without thinking "is he REALLY the right guy for this?"
- J35Bacher

Jonesy just recently gave Torts a public vote of confidence. Unless DB can somehow convince Torts to fire himself himself he's outvoted 2-1. But let's dispense w/ the fantasy that DB isn't also 100% behind Torts.

Regarding Atkinson, the right move would be to ride out his contract. Similar to what they should’ve done with Hayes. If the player isn’t in the plans or can’t play anymore, sit them in the Cote suite.

To me, the most concerning part of this cockamamie triumvirate is that Jones loves Jorts as much as Jorts loves Poehling. And Hilferty loves Jones.

This is a really bad situation ya’ll.

I agree. I do not want to down play Hathaway. I like him. I just would not play him ahead of Brink in a game that goals will be tough to come by. Especially if Brink did nothing to earn a benching.
- mickel25

Do you think that both Brink and Frost will learn from the experience of sitting on the bench for most of a high stakes game?

Honestly, let's be fair. Players like Hathaway and Poehling play their asses off and do what they're capable of. My issue is how the coach over relies and over plays them. That is not on them. That is my issue.
- MJL

100% agree. I actually hope the Flyers find more Poehling type players. Hopefully Poehling eventually ends up being a trade chip.

Brink should play but I don't think he was playing well, he was hustling but he seemed behind the play. Brink usually make the right read, anticipates well, seems he was guessing wrong a bit, he seemed tired. More likely, he knew with ego boy, he was just a shift away from the bench.

People say that I don't give Tortorella any credit. I want to give him credit for one thing. He actually coached every game behind the bench this season. He has grown as a coach this year.

Maybe they "noticed' how to play the right way while watching from the bench.

as long as he is coach the offense will be bad. he cant coach it and knows nothing about it. He will not want to bring in offensive type players. Just players who are offensive.

also will any beats have the "balls" to ask about the PP and rockey? as well has why bench your offensive type players when you need a goal?

seeing who was out in the last 2 minutes was pure entertainment.

That is fair. Would be nice if the Flyers were content with either one of Hathaway or Poehling. But no, Flyers love not only accumulating these types on a roster, but overplay them to a ridiculous degree.

Baffling they don’t see that.

Flyers should keep Poehling and develop him as the 4th line center. Who can move up and not kill you when you have injuries. He is young enough. You need players like that.

Poehling, sure, whatever.

But Hathaway is a POS.

I don’t care what the top brass says. There is no way you honestly say that the flyers just need to retool and they will be right there.
They arguably need not one top center but two centers.
They also need a young no questions asked #1 dman.
As much as I like Ersson cen he be the #1 goalie and carry a heavy workload.
What do the flyers really have in Fedotov if he comes back?
The flyers also do not have money to go throwing at free agents of any consequence.
We saw what the flyers had with TK. That was a playoff bubble team. The question now becomes what are the cap implications of that.
Even with the cap going up at a good amount I would trade TK and use that space to take another teams bad contract for assets.
If DB plays it right he can have a good number of young guys coming in when MM comes over.
Also if I was DB I get rid of the pluggers so to speak.
Playing the Torts right way is awesome but if you can’t score then who cares.

Not as much as Lycksell, Attard, and Ginning learned.

Which is a reason I think Laughton should be moved. I feel they are kind of redundant players.

Keep Poehling as the 4th C who can move around. Your going to have Couturier and you Keep Frost.

Now try to use Laughton or Konecny in some way to bring back a young center or move up in the draft someway to get one.

There are going to be some RFA's that might be available depending on their teams cap and roster situation.

Ginning learned he will absolutely be back in Sweden next year. Unless he gets traded to another NHL team. Attard learned he has to get out of Philly.
Lyksell learned he is going to get the Frost treatment.
Who says the flyers can’t develop players.

The only FA’s the flyers should sign is to fill in gaps for a year or two until they get a more permanent and stable option.
To beat a dead horse. I think it’s very possible CG saw how the younger talented players were dealt with by being benched or scratched so often and thought to himself screw that why would I subject myself to that BS.
If DB knows for a fact that CG said he will not play for Torts do you really think he would say so publicly?
If you’re giving a list of 20 teams you would play for it doesn’t appear CG just wanted to go to a top team to maybe win the cup easier.
IMO Torts isn’t back after next season.

So, are we over .500?

Torts is gonna Torts. The guy is a dinosaur of a coach that acts like a 7th grade bully. But hey, culture and all that BS rhetoric. Going to be interesting to see if any of the players are tired of his act on move out day.

Offseason should be interesting. My guess is you will have another monster contract for TK coming in the near future. Jonesy thinks this team is a few pieces away when reality is they are not even close.

Another "kick the can down the road" year. This is and never was a rebuild. Another Chuck special by retooling on the fly with a new marketing slogan.

The new era of orange feels a whole lot like the past era of mediocrity.

I was told numerous times during the season that things were different this season. Doesn't seem so.

As far as being over .500. What games are we counting?
