Flyers #1 center, Ryan Poehling played 19 minutes in the game. The most of any Flyers center. Can't believe the Flyers didn't win.
- MJL

I am at the point I wouldn't blame Frost if he just went to his agent and asked for him to push a trade if Torts is still here.

That was brutal. Two of the better playmakers on your team and they sat in a must win.

(frank) the "culture". The only thing I am seeing is that it is the Philadelphia Torts. And that is a huge problem.

Keith Jones acts like the so called rebuild is over while his manchild narcissist of a coach is running Poehling out there 19 minutes per game as his 1C.

It’s beyond comical at this point.

When this team drops to 75-80 points next season the looks of shock and confusion on the faces of Hilferty and the legion of authentics will be priceless.

- BiggE

This team could be worse than that. Thank goodness.

They need SOME credit though seriously. Michkov while seemingly a no brainer, other clubs weren’t willing to take the risk. They did the right things at the deadline. Again not every franchise would move Walker for futures being in a playoff position knowing they’d take a noticeable hit on the ice.

When they make the flyer play to extend konecny, we’ll all know it’s more of the same but until then..

The Flyers brass most likely aren't going to see it that way. They are being run as a division of an entertainment company, not as a hockey team.

Interest in the team is up and so is merchandising so their time slot is safe and the show runners will be brought back for another year. Tune in same time, same channel next year.

- Flyers_01

Which is ironic because they are anything but entertaining. I have film of paint drying and it is more exciting than watching those freakin muckers skate around like they are in cement

They are just loaded at center. What was Torts thinking

Torts is an egomaniac, end of story for me. He thinks he is right all the time and will go out of his way to prove it.

This team was scoring deprived, PP INEPT, that is not on Torts, that is just where they are as a franchise. So, play everyone, relying on your favorites is a joke, hell they have probably been on the ice for
More goals vs then for. Rebuild, let them all play and stop the stupid headgames.

Brink looked like he was pressing, probably because he knew he was 1 shift away from no shifts.

I don't totally buy that. Thompson was his guy. I mean it is not unheard of of a coach being fired. They could have made a change in the middle of the season. I get that talent is the same but maybe they needed a new voice or idea for the PP.

I noticed him not scoring as the #1 center too.
- MBFlyerfan
Did you notice Frost when he was playing? I sure as hell didn't. In fact, I barely noticed him at all down the stretch in general. He is a soft player that simply doesn't have the competitive fire and you can't teach that. I did see him smiling on the bench last night though, so I guess he was having a good time. I hear he is a helleva guy though.

There is enough talent, that if utilized creatively, should not be last in the league.

This is not a coaching staff with any imagination.

Frost owns making the case to be in the top 6, he needs to remove the idea he should be benched and 2 point down the stretch is not going to cut it. The team as a whole didnt generate chances in 1st, Frost was benched mid 2nd it feels like, Torts saying others were going, really? Frost was 5 of 6 on draws and 1 takeaway, did not generate for sure but no one was, except the muckers got more ice time to work their way through it, while Brink and Frost were sat with Cam, just DUMB, the egomaniac needed to be right. They lost, didn't score another goal and the egomaniac was not proven right, he mentioned numerous times the Caps defended well, that was their plan, give them credit. Probably not a good idea to let younger, more talented players have a full game to fight through it.

So dumb.

Frost is one of your most talented playmakers. It is a must win game. Ryan Peohling is a role player. Sitting Frost was and should be something you get fired for?

What lesson has Torts taught Frost this year? Brink? Honestly. The only thing I see is Torts will alienate guys he wants and I could see it hurting this franchise. If I am Frost I am asking my agent to get me moved. We good if the reason Gauthier didn't want to sign was because of Torts?

His antics are old and athletes today are different. There are a host of teams that would love Frost for his skills and would live with whatever issues Torts seems to see in his game.

I agree the PP needs better coaching, said that a few blogs ago, should have been more clear, was just making the point the scoring issues on the whole, are not on Torts, we all knew the team would struggle to score.

That was the talking point all season. How much more fun they were to watch. The team that finished 27th in the league in goals per game.

Bright side Zam had a good game, really asserted himself, should have been on PP. Thought after the Habs blowout Drysdale played better, while still trying to make plays. Both need a strong summer. As much as I disagree with Torts, maybe he can be good for Drysdale, on the D side of the puck.

You couldn't have dreamt up a more fitting way for the Flyers season to end than Torts sending out a 4th line grinder to try and score a 6on5 goal, and then that grinder falls on his ass at the blue line gifting the Capitals an empty net goal.

Zamula should've been playing in every game and not scratched. He is better than both Johnson and Staal. More wasted signings and trades made by the Flyers at the expense of young players getting icetime on a supposedly rebuilding team.

Two things can be true.

They were more enjoyable as a team to watch.

I can also not be happy with what is going on and how they are going about the rebuild.

The reasons why Tortorella basically has not done a dam thing as a coach in the last 20 years have been on full display all season.

I would also add Attard and Ginning should have been playing. There was not a need for Staal to see the ice or even be signed.

And your right, there wasn't a need for Johnson.

Playoffs or not, you should have been riding with the youth and seeing what transpires.

Did you notice the top 9 Tortorella rolled with for the last half of the game couldn't generate offense against a Caps team playing their third game in four days?

Managing only one goal in a must win game at home should get the blowhard fossil fired.

Was vocal about Johnson not needing to play, will say he played ok the last couple of game, but youth should have played. Staal signing no big deal, playing him down the stretch, issue.

Shows how little you really know about the game if you aren't looking at one of your little stats books. He was actually one of the more noticable Flyers on the ice all night. If Frosty wasn't such a pudder he wouldn't have been benched. He won't be anything higher than a #3 center in this league, so he better brush up on his defensive positioning. I really thought he had turned the corner, but he really disappeared when the team needed him the most.
- Phillywhiteout

There's the Flyers signature term. "Noticable". Brink was actually having a "noticably" good game last night. Yet he still got benched so guys like Cates and Hathaway could play extra shifts.

One other thing you may "notice", the Flyers have made the playoffs only 5 of the last 12 years. You may also "notice" they are nowhere close to winning a cup.

yes, players benched for not generating, players who played didn't score another goal, not generating? In fact some of them were on for the goal against.
