Duchene signed the then contract in July 2013. That contract ran till 2019. He asked for a trade in 2016 December, right about midway point of a 6 year contract.
There were no problems, contractual or otherwise, in negotiations because there were no negotiations. There was nothing to negotiate. He wanted out because of a lot of non-money reasons.
""It was something I sat on for a long time. I wanted to wait and see how things panned out," Duchene said. "Last year when it happened, it was around the time I saw the writing on the wall in terms of the future of that franchise, in terms of the rest of my contract. We had a horrific year last year, and I could see a rebuild coming. It was something I've been a part of, multiple times, and I just couldn't do it." - PT21
Something like that. Don’t know why I was thinking contract. All I remember is strife for a long time then trade request. Then eventually a trade
Right after drafting, he could have foregone the 2 college years he eventually chose, and turned pro right away. He "risked millions' by deferring his pro status/ELC, and injury, was my point. Just that 2 extra years alone likely means he gave up 10 million odd over the course of his career.
It ain't solely about the money. Caitlin Clark gave up 20 million from Ice Cube to earn $340k in the WNBA over 4 years. Yes, she will make a ton from endorsements, but she would have made that in the 3-on-3 as well. - PT21
Then he would’ve went back to juniors. Apples and oranges. Either way he wasn’t playing on flyers. So he wanted to go to college which obviously prevented him from signing elc per college rules. He wasn’t avoiding elc by some sacrifice of money. He wasn’t getting paid to start that elc.
That's a matter of opinion. In my opinion they did. If they had simply signed him in March of 23, he would be Flyers property today and the Flyers would have another potential top player asset. - MJL
He wasn’t wrong. It was his right to do exactly what he did. And for good reason he did imo
With that said I wish they would’ve signed him in hindsight only because I never would’ve thought an nhl team would respond to a disgruntled prospect so poorly as Philly did.
And like you said they’d still have him.
But I can’t lay blame on db for the intial decision to send him back to college for a what amounts to 6 months.
I do lay blame on what happened after mainly on flyers tho. I’d say 90%/10%
People say that I don't give Tortorella any credit. I want to give him credit for one thing. He actually coached every game behind the bench this season. He has grown as a coach this year. - MJL
Except for the 2 he was suspended for.

Can't say Frost whines, press actually asked the right questions.

What juniors? He went to the USNDP. He could have declared pro right away at the same age his buddy Kane did. Or at least, after his freshman year was over. When everyone, including Flyers mgmt, were eagerly waiting for him to turn pro.
[quote=THE BLACK HAND] Soccer players are the biggest pu$$ies to ever walk the face of the earth! Every time they get touched they go down like they got shot by a 12 gauge shotgun! They are ALMOST bigger sissies than Embiid!! They aren't that soft yet though. Thanks! Eh what? - Phillywhiteout
They did, because now the team with the league's 27th best offense have an injured Drysdale and a 2025 2nd round pick instead of the highly skilled young forward they desperately need.

TK at the end of his interview, about his contract, no news, no talks but ends with I love Philly
As a protest against the state of this franchise, I propose we unofficially make this Eaglesbuzz and discuss a team much more worth discussing.
If Bill tacitly condones this and gives out 4 year bans for anyone daring to talk about the Flyers, things can progress and be official.
Undoubtedly, the story will get picked up by outside media. There might be daytime discussion about MJL by teams of psychiatrists, memes, MRIs of his brain and who knows, even a book deal.
The NFL draft is 8 days away. I am super excited. - PT21
How bout you take your Eagles talk and politics elsewhere? Anyone that suggests this become Eagles buzz should be the one that gets ejected!! Thanks!

K maybe not juniors but another minor league team. Team other than nhl. Pick one
every single one of them would beat your ass - THE BLACK HAND
Still hangin out at the gym jerking off to those big guys workin out? I'd drop Embiid like a stone! One karate kick to the outside of his weak knee and he'd drop like an overgrown turd!! Got your red rocket out? God, what a creepy term...figures you use it. You, in a word, are one creepy MFer.

This is 10 yards where I sometimes play tennis. One day Embiid dropped by, god alone knows why, and this guy started trash talking him. It was probably you.

That would put a big clamp on my commenting. But that’s fine. I don’t know much about Frey, Henley, etc.

I'd kick his ass in HORSE! I know that for a fact!
