Flyers will turn up another middle-six F or middle-pair D at #12.

Exactly what we're missing.

1OA is for losers. And the Flyers aren't that.

This draft by most evaluators is pretty much the same between 2-13 as far a prospective talent. The Flyers will have a chance to get a good player just a matter if they wlll choose correctly. Last year was a promising draft but they have to do it again.

The Russian situation hasn't really changed since last year so maybe the Flyers can capitalize again.
- Tomahawk

I believe out of the 2, Silayev is the most likely to slide. Top 15 prospects seem to be more blueline heavy. It would be wild if Silayev is still on the board at pick 10.

At the start of the season if someone told us that the Flyers would have a chance at the playoffs at game 82, we would have told them they were crazy. What's most disappointing is that we controlled our own destiny and blew it.

As in pure Flyer tradition, NAK gets the game-winning/playoff clinching goal tonight.

This was a missed opportunity at a decent season. Playoff exposure for a young group would have been valuable. It was clear in the first third of the season that we were not going to be in the lottery hunt.

Picking 11-16 is the worst case scenario. If you are picking outside of the top 10 you might as well make the playoffs. If they miss the playoffs and do not get any lottery luck they would be getting what they deserve.

The Flyers are better off missing the playoffs. Playoff exposure and experience is ridiculously overblown in importance.

I will be curious if GMs stay away from Silayev and Demindov with the KHL commitment. I certainly do not expect either to be available when the Flyers pick. I would not be shocked to see Flyers take blueline with their first pick.
- Trox88

The KHL commitment should be viewed more positively. First rate player development giving you a ready to play player. Several Wild Russian prospects have gotten reduced ice time and benchings for not playing in all 3 zones. It’s effective. Torts has nothing on them.

A 1st round playoff exit tells you how far you have to go. Missing the playoffs tells you the same thing earlier.

I’m gonna wine and dine myself tonight. Be ready and watching the game with full climax at the final buzzer of this season for flyers.

They’ll be no whining tonight from me. Anyone thinking flyers winning this game are delusional. Prepare for the Ov onslaught

Actually I hope they do win. Just to get their hopes up. And hopefully Detroit loses so hearts can be broken by pens. It’s exactly what this team deserves and the fans wanting them to make playoffs deserve

Marchand looked checked out the way Dowd stripped him for the ENG.

Since you post this statement with such certainty I presume you can attest with first-hand experience that hockey games are hockey games, playoffs or not.

If we debate it, will you promise to threaten me? Or how about we meet up and play one on one hockey to decide it. Or how about a game of HORSE on the b-ball court?

It sickens me to no end that we could drop 4 spots in the draft if the clinching scenario comes through.

I’m looking forward to see how they play tonight. This is the biggest pressure game they’ve had all season. Win they have a chance loose and they are officially out. It’s not a game 7 pressure but it’s as close. I hope to see the focus, effort and performance they have show most of the year and not the weak performances of 2-3 weeks ago.

Either way we all will see how they respond to adversity and must win pressure!

Maybe. But not in this case imo. There is little to no evidence I am aware of that players benefit from exposure to playoff hockey. Young players naturally progress with more experience. But there is little experience the maturation process gets a boost from post-season experience.

It's a nice story though. Humanizes the process.

How much did it help the Flyers losing in the first round in 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18?

It should be an entertaining game with the playoffs on the line, if only for a matter of a few hours.
