I guess the nhl and torts wanted Washington in the playoffs instead of Detroit when they pulled the goalie in a tie game when they had already been eliminated from the wings. What a rigged game

It's basically what Jonesy said in that interview somebody posted yesterday.

They're gonna double down by bringing in some discount PP net-front guy.

You can bet they'll be looking for a veteran goalie too.

What good is a net front guy if you can’t enter the zone?

Maybe there shouldn’t betting lines being constantly broadcast during professional sporting events. Just sayin’

Define solid

he had good Corsi, and had good scording chances for versus against by a big margin.

But he had an expected goals % of about 44%, meaning it was more likely a goal would be scored against him than for, and further, he had a relative expected goals % that was far worse than average for his team.

Interpretation: when he was on the ice, his team flung a lot of rubber from afar, but the better quality chances were on the other side on the aggregate. And again, he fared worse than the team on average in these 'quality' stats.

Basically your 3rd line checking center, frankly.

So that’s what solid is now?

Here’s what I saw … a whole lotta meh…. Some decent here some blah there and some real slow drudging all night long.

IMO the eye test he played ok…. Nothing worse than expected. Definitely nothing that wowed and definitely NOT SOLID.

about a c grade I’d give him tonight

Sorry. I guess don’t leave it up until the final seconds of the season to try to lock it down.

Several teams learned hard lessons this year.

OMG, I did not even realize. 😂😂😂. What a trifecta!!! NHL record apparently.

Knowing the flyers, instead of firing rocky thompson they will innovate by bringing in another coach to split the power play duties. Because clearly collaboration is what wins in this league as evidenced by the triumvirate

Couturier's xGF% in the game was 51.54%. A solid number. The opposition had all of 2 scoring chances in the game when he was on the ice. He also registered an assist in the game. Your analysis is inaccurate on a number of levels.

They changed the xGF from 0.16 to 0.21 sometime after I posted last night. The xGA has stayed at .2. That is the discrepancy.

Since his Corsi is very high, there is no way the XGA can be only 51.54 unless the better scoring chances were skewed against him (medium and high danger).

And XGA% rel still was negative, meaning the team was less likely to score a goal when he was on the ice.

I am comparing him to a 1c in a must win game, and the Couts of old. The current numbers do not bear this out

You had the facts wrong. With xGF%, anything at 50% or better is a good number. When he was on the ice, he controlled shot attempts, which is puck possession and scoring chance generation. He registered an assist on the teams only goal scored. It was a low event game. That is a solid game. The context of the discussion was Couturier having a solid game. Don't try and move the goal posts.

He does have a point tho. In a must win game the captain, and best player on the team, should perform better than ok.

One would hope that all of the Flyers top players would play better than okay and score some goals but they didn't. The adjective to describe Couturier's play last night was solid. Not great or anything similar.

"Solid" is a subjective term that has different meanings based on what the user means. Is it solid in and of itself? Or solid relative to the player's expectations?
And does solid mean meeting those expectations? It was in the context of what I meant and his numbers and play, at least to me were definitely not meeting expectations.

It is hard to talk about moving the goal posts when a guy jumps in repeatedly in a conversation with others and starts using vague terms and then admits the play of your 1c with a 8 year term and a NTC in a must win game is "not great" but uhh ... solid.

LOL, here you go with another asinine semantics argument. Reminds me of when you tried to debate the term "no brainer".

This is an online discussion forum. The design of it is to jump in and have conversations with others. Same as you "jumped in". Another asinine point offered by you.

I'm sure now that we got this out of the way, you can now commence with the personal shots and post that I need therapy. You were wrong both factually and conceptually. Deal with it.
