Completely agree. My point to the group is to gently caution (I'm nothing, if not subtle) that they'll need a few to exceed (perhaps by a lot, if our best forward prospect has a middle six ceiling) what is currently thought to be their ceilings in order to get a legitimate contender. There are indeed quite a few high picks coming in the next couple drafts, but it is unlikely that more than one of them plays in Chicago next year (maybe the next two years).

We're much closer to the beginning of this process than the end.

You know what was really cool about Nazar's goal? He didn't need Bedard to set him up. He also came inches away from having 2 goals because he had his arse parked in front of the net.

I heard them on the Michigan telecast refer to him as Braden Point which i was like okay, we'll see. Then vs Boston they put Nazar on the top line and the announcer said this is what the coach does sometimes when he wants all his best forwards on the same line.

We all know Bedard generates scoring chances for line 1 he always will. Now if and it's a really big if Nazar is a player that generates scoring chances for his line we are a hell of a lot closer to forming a legitimate top 6 line.

I know we have a long way to go, especially to see what Nazar is but if he truly is as good or better than Point than next season will be very interesting, and the top 6 will be in good hands.
