not necessarily, what you usually see in that situation is teams opting for "patching" things up temporarily with another lesser talent, and trying to go through it with an effort by committee.

if not, might as well remove the cap and let richer teams like the habs pay as many players as they want.

All I am saying is cap complaint in the playoffs is not the perfect solution... player movement is already so limited this just makes it even more limited.

I don't think there is such a thing as a perfect solution, but forcing teams to be cap-compliant in the playoffs wouldn't make things worse imho.

Like I said the other day, things will stay the way they are until a Canadian team use that loophole and finds success. Now it will be time to crack down on salary cap "shenanigans"

As long as your team does not have a major injury or two, risking making the playoffs, sure.

Otherwise, season lost.

Because years ago, there was no cap, so teams did whatever they wanted.

Since the cap came in, teams have tried to game the cap to their advantage, and now teams are pushing that further with playoff arms races.

I bet Vegas management team had a huge boner when Stone got injured, knowing they could amp up their arms race for the playoffs, while others, unlucky to not have injuries, were disadvantaged.

So yeah, injuries have always been an issue. LTIR has made it almost a non-issue for richer teams.

Maybe send Baron back down to Laval... not sure where the Rocket are in the playoff race right now.

Or if that is dead.

oh please, maybe his injury was legit but his return was purposely synchronized with the playoffs, it's all a huge pile of bullpoop and it makes the league look like a total joke.

they lost last night, I don't think they're mathematically eliminated just yet but their chances have dropped drastically.

Perhaps a better solution is to have a more rigorous medical assessment and player clearance by the league.

Would have less people (frank)ing around like this... not sure how you police it.

Again, while in theory having cap compliance in the playoffs seems to make sense, it punishes teams that are playing by the rules rather than ones taking advantage of the rules over and over (like TB and Vegas).

That is too bad.

Looks like injuries (frank)ed over both teams via player movement.

but everyone would be playing by the same rules though. we don't see it the same way, it's all good.

Again, then no trades will happen if they think a player is coming back, and if you are fine with no player movement, then great.

Your best player gets hurt for 4 months, too bad, you missed the playoffs.

yeah, again, I don't see it impacting the TDL that much, which is already an illusion anyway because teams now make their trades before that, and those trades usually involve healthy players.

again.

Obviously you don't comprehend my point, perhaps I am not explaining it properly.

I agree there is a problem, but I do not agree that playoff cap compliance is a really viable approach for a myriad of reasons.

Will leave it at that.
