I really dont believe there was an opporyunity to get someone better, considering it happened at last minute

it almost was Pacioretty, and then ended up Roslovic

- jimbro83

Yes if you look at the “opportunity” as only having existed from the moment we traded for him lol

There were days/weeks leading up to the deadline. It’s done though. Hope for the best for that line with or without jack

I'm sure that will carry a lot of weight here.

That comment was more of a (facetious) shot at Tom.

Great blog Jan!

Rempe will bring 3x more to the team & building in his 5 minutes of play than JBrod could in 10. The garden just wakes up when he is on the ice. The team notices it. He's gotta play. He also keeps other teams in check. Hathaway isnt scared of fucking Barclay Goodrow. He was laughing at Goodrows attempt at retaliation.

- NYR11

It's really on the coaching staff to get Rempe into the lineup and playing with some control. If he's going to be running people and throwing elbows to the head, he's not going to be in the lineup for the playoffs. But (my personal disgust aside) the kid can definitely help your team if he learns to play like a professional and not and punk.

Normally not so much. But honestly, I also don't care.

I understood.

But that comment is actually how I feel. Just waiting for the bad times.

The Rangers haven't scored 5 on 5 goal in 137 minutes of game action. Seems like an issue.

I have said Rempe should be in the lineup, not a fan boy, the team plays bigger when he’s in, gives the crowd a boost as per the Rempe cheer while he’s in the press box, plus I think the team is undefeated while he’s in, live with the mistakes, can’t be any worse than the mistakes the rest of the team makes

They've suffered three defeats with Rempe in the line up.

In terms of the deadline, the players traded that New York likely had interest and were unable to acquire due to one reason or another who would have been fits than Roslovic were: Anthony Mantha to Vegas, Vladimir Tarasenko to Florida, Tyler Toffoli to Winnipeg and Anthony Duclair to Tampa. I didn’t include Jake Guentzel because the depth in the Rangers organization is not the same as in Carolina and that was the precluding factor. Tarasenko only wanted Florida for some reason, so he likely can be excluded but will show the cost for him below. Adding in Wennberg because his acquisition cost impacts what was available for other deals.

Mantha - 2nd-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a 4th-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Tarasenko - conditional 4th-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a 3rd-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Wennberg - 2nd-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a conditional 4th-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft
Duclair - a 7th-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Jack Thompson and 3rd-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft
Toffoli - 3rd-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a 2nd-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft
Roslovic - conditional 4th-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft

New York has a first round pick each of the next three years but don’t have a second or third each of the next two years. They have a conditional third in 2026. The lack of these made it difficult to deal unless prospects like Bryan Berard etc were included in a trade. Wennberg was the same cost as Mantha and relatively in line with what Tarasenko, Duckair and Toffoli. Tarasenko only wanted Florida and GM Chris Drury maybe should have tried harder to get a shooter like Duclair or Toffoli, who would have been a better fit even though cost would have been higher then what he paid for Roslovic.

I've been there for a while. Always knew the bad times were coming. Just didn't know when. We'll see. If I'm wrong, I'll eat it.

Rangers are playing without a 1st line, no matter the configuration. Too soft, cannot forecheck and do not create anything. The only positive is they’re responsible defensively. That’s the a third line.

Drury’s decision (or ordered not to) not to trade the 1st round draft pick was shortsighted. It gave the team the impression the organization did not feel they’re good enough to contend for the cup.

I’ll say it now, if they fall flat in the 1st round of the playoffs, it’s time to start asking players to waive NMC, because I don’t think they can get Lavy fired. Or could they ?

come back brother

chytil:

@vzmercogliano
He’s a full go, with no non-contact jersey. Word from a source is that he’s been medically cleared. The #NYR are obviously prioritizing Chytil’s health given everything he’s been through, but I’m also hearing the playoffs aren’t out of the question if all goes well 👀

is a great sign. He’s been medically cleared and wanted to get back on the ice. No timeline for his return and he won’t be rushed, but if all goes well he could provide a huge boost in the playoffs.

That would be huge. But his health is first and foremost. Even a scintilla of concern and you don’t play him at all

No, I can't. I wish him well, but let be on record that if he does come I think this bad idea for his health.

MSG doesn’t show anyone of note in the stands. Of course, if Taylor Swift were dating a Ranger they might.

Yeah, the reason why I don't want him to come back is because of the concussion and then the set back. If he does come back this year, every time he gets hit i'm gonna cringe and I don't want to watch him like that.

Exactly. If the Rangers draw the Caps, you can make book Wilson will run him at some point. It scares me, I’m sure it scares the organization. The second guessing would be devastating.
