I notice that cutter is dominating the frozen four while drysdale dropped a -6 the other night. Great golf round but not a great game.

Man that trade is going to kill in like 2 years. Ffs. We completely blew that one.

- Hextall271

what if that 2nd round pick is the next bergeron?

So you didn’t watch the game? I knew about Jay O’Brien for a while and when he got to BU he was on a good track. Injuries derailed him. Don’t forget, it was your hero Hextall that reached for him at 19.
- jd250

Contradicting yourself. Trying to use injuries to justify your position on O'Brien then trying to get at me by implying it was a bad pick by Hextall.

If Gauthier is not the best player on his team, they why is he a Hobey Baker finalist? Why isn't whoever is better than he is on his team a finalist?

Exactly. Gonna be a beast. Talking about regrets.

But I think Michkov was the better pick.

I don't think he was aware of the rules in the NCAA.

Stay the course? So sign seeler. Sign rp? Trade for Johnson? Don’t move assets laught tk etc etc?

Stay the course ? Yeah no. Parts 2/3 need more of

- Stayin alive

This trade deadline wasn’t the time to trade TK. Agree Laughton should have gone if the rumored 1st round picks were offered. The Johnson trade was a waste and something I still do not agree with.

Stay the course was obviously meant in reference to the stated “rebuild” which in part they stuck to by trading Walker. I have no problem with the Seeler signing. Still need veterans.

How much experience did ej gain last night?

I am sure that ol, ra, ag, and dg are so much better prepared for high stakes hockey after watching the game from the cote suit and eating popcorn

- corduroy

The whole year not last night. The experience the younger players have gained cannot be denied.

Is Hathaway getting a hearing yay or nay?
- StepfordSam
For what? If you think he should get a hearing for that incident in the crease you really should stick to watching the Suxas! Yikes!

Ha ha, Keven Hayes a healthy scratch twice in the past week. This clown has 4 goals in his last 47 games. Talk about stealing money. Oh, that's right...this doesn't fit the anti Torts narrative on here. Sorry bout that.

The Flyers resigned seeler and traded for ej - that stunted growth for young d-men, they gained nothing signing staal did the same thing

Frost scratched for 12% of the season - amazing job developing him

How many games did nd play - who gained experience in those games

Lyksell has spent more time in the pressbox than on the ice

What players grew this season? Farabee? Frost? Tippet? I would say at best those three players this season parallel last season

How does what Kevin Hayes does, fit any narrative? There is not one person here who wanted him to stick around.

It shows that Torts knows trash when he sees it. Lazy Hazy is just that. Got rid of Angelo too and he's been a healthy scratch for Carolina frequently.

So big deal, Torts sees what we all see. I guess that makes us all geniuses in your eyes.

My issue with Torts and Hayes is the way Torts used Hayes. Hayes was having a career year, and made the All star game last year. Then Torts stepped in and moved him to wing, cut his hours, benched him, and ran his rep and worth into the ground.

You should never have to pay to trade an allstar from 3 months prior. Let alone carry half his salary for multiple years.

Torts destroyed any worth Hayes had, and most definitly cost the Flyers both any kind of return and millions of dollars.

For the record, I hated that Fletcher traded for his rights from the Jets, hated the contract even more. Never thought he was worth anywhere near that type of money. Hayes was always a Fletcher over reach.

But Torts destroyed any value. Getting just a low draft pick for an AllStar from 3 months prior is bad. Retaining 50% salary for the life of the contract is awful.

Not at all...it just means that perhaps Torts isn't the total buffoon that some folks make him out to be on here.

For discussion, what could have the compensation been if handled differently? Keeping in mind his cap hit and term left, his playing career over 9 yrs- 2 seasons scoring over 20 goals and 2 seasons over 30 assists. Do you believe a better draft pick for the salary retained? Less salary retained for the same compensation?

They 100% were not going to draft Sanguinetti. They had him as a second-round range pick. If Giroux had been off the board, Patrik Berglund was next on their internal list.
- bmeltzer

Thanks, Bill! I did not know that. I (mis-)remembered that Jay Greenberg was the writer who reported Sanguinetti was the pick, but Jay would not have gotten that wrong.

I think if Hayes was allowed to just play, he would have hit 60 points last year.

60 points and an AllStar game appearance.

I think a 60 point, 2-3rd line centre would have been a bit of both.

Maybe only 25% retained with a 3rd rounder coming back. Not thinking anything ridiculous.

Either way, Torts diminished the return on what we did get back for Hayes.

Foerester, Brink, York, & Zemula would be the other 4 not referenced above.

Oh and I totally agree the EJ trade was abysmal and a waste of a 4th rounder.

Bigger chance that the flyers will win a Stanley Cup before the Hale-Bopp comet is visible again for the naked eye.

I agree with Forester and York - Brink and Zemula have been held back by the coach and FO decisions IMO
