It's amazing that it possibly could come down to a win and in game against The Capitals on April 16th.

Most years, there really isn't much difference between picking, say, 12th or 15th. Who are the best Flyers draft picks of the last 26 years?
I'd say, arranged chronologically, Simon Gagne (22nd overall in 1998), Justin Williams (28th overall in 2000), Jeff Carter (11th overall in 2003), Mike Richards (24th overall in 2003), Claude Giroux (22nd overall in 2006), Sean Couturier (8th overall in 2011), Ivan Provorov (7th overall in 2016), Travis Konecny (24th overall in 2016).
It's all over the map. Boston's best three draftees of the last 21 years were a late second-round pick (Bergeron), a third-round pick (Marchand) and a late first-rounder (Pastrnak).
The Draft takes no small amount of good luck. This year's Draft isn't a deep one heading in but there really isn't much more chance of a superstar at 11th than there is at 15th. - bmeltzer

How many watched the BC vs Michigan game last night? For those who did, I have stated the though Gauthier is a good player he is not even the best player on his team. Am I wrong? |

never heard that story.
wonder when ronnie will be hired back by the flyers in some capacity. - hello it's me 2050
They still need a goalie |

I notice that cutter is dominating the frozen four while drysdale dropped a -6 the other night. Great golf round but not a great game.
Man that trade is going to kill in like 2 years. Ffs. We completely blew that one. - Hextall271

Well said Bill! And not just Flyers players, Aho 2nd round, Kucherov 2nd round, point 3rd round. Teams have to do their homework for sure and be able to develop, but there is a lot of luck involved. |

I wish we could retire the Cutter story, as nothing could be changed anymore and we, as a fanbase) need to move on. |

I don't know if you're wrong or right. I do know that you watched college players such as Jay O'Brien and said he had the goods. I also know that you now have a clear bias against Gauthier. If he was still Flyers property, you'd be all over him. I also know that Gauthier is a finalist for the Hobey Baker award while none of his teammates are.

The problem is... when's the last time the Flyers turned out an elite player in the 2nd-round or later? Rick Tocchet? It's been a long (frank)ing time... maybe they're due... or maybe they just haven't had the goods in the scouting dept. |

They act as if the Flyers actively were trying to trade him. If he wanted to play here, Flyers would still have him. |

It's unclear because Junior-A is a viable pathway to the NHL as well.

Who cares if college players wear cages?
It didn't stop Quinn Hughes from being an instant NHL star - Feanor
This is going down a weird direction because obviously Gauthier not gonna come into the NHL and wear a full cage. I’m just making the point that the full cage looks dumb and he’s playing lesser talent. Gauthier was wearing a half visor in the world juniors. |

We don't even know a reason for his behavior. All we have are conspiracy theories. |

Gauthier plays with a full cage. Do you expect Gauthier to step into the NHL and dominate with that stupid full cage on his face? - roenick97

Thanks for the reply Bill on draft position. You can’t accept losing. It is contagious. TK elevating his game here. Hopefully it helps with the impending trade. - coffee junkie
Agreed on the accepting losing but this franchise has been tolerating it for a decade or more. When I hear “ standard” or “ culture” that is what I think is really what needs to be fixed.
I believe Torts has started that but it will never change until the GM and above back up that approach. I’m not talking about brow beating or humiliating players.
I’m the last thread someone called this team bipolar since they compete and are inspired when they play top teams but under perform against lower ranked teams.
If they win the last 2 games I’d feel better going into the offseason than the what the last several games looked like.
Either way still need more talent added and then that talent needs to be developed. Sharp and Leclair better be the right choices to develop that talent. |

So you didn’t watch the game? I knew about Jay O’Brien for a while and when he got to BU he was on a good track. Injuries derailed him. Don’t forget, it was your hero Hextall that reached for him at 19. |

I think it was the latter, hopefully things will change now. I do believe Flahr is a good drafter. |

Yes! And I really wished the flyers tanked last year because they would have had a shot at getting Smith also. He is a really impressive player. Local Boston kid also! |

I could never get used to a shield. Every time you move your head sweat sprays all over it. They get fogged up. I grew up wearing a cage and wore a cage until I stopped playing in my 50s. If cages didn’t look so stupid they’d wear them on the NHL.
