It’s possible he wants to see the players’ game and how they conduct themselves when he’s not right there waiting for them on the bench. Body language and all.

Like watching your kid on a nanny cam when you’re gone and they think they’re alone lol

or its possible he is just taking a lazy approach.

a history? did it 1 time.

He only did it one year, but that year was last year and he did it for several games. Whether or not it had an impact on the team, it is something no other coach in the NHL as far back as i can remember has done. It is also something i don't think any other team would allow.

I wish people would stop the “ the team quit on the coach” talk. The team quit on “ the fans” the fans are the ones that pay everyone salaries. No fans no $$. The fans who go to the games and pay up to $400 a ticket plus parking plus concessions are the true losers watching the 💩 product. The coach still gets paid even when fired!
The fans never get refunded watching a bad performance from disengaged players.

If there is someone in management to blame’s it’s the GM and POHO who everyone reports too!

I’m not giving the players a pass just because they don’t like how a coach talked about them when they performed like 💩

The players didn't quit. They've been completely gassed for awhile now. All the Coots and balls stuff was just Torts trying to get blood from a stone. Notice how he suddenly changed to a more understanding, softer tone after the recent drubbings.

THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH TALENT. That is on the org.

Also, ticket, parking and concession prices are absurd regardless of how good the team is.

In both 2019-20 and 2020-21, he lost 12 of his last 15 contests with the team. When something like this happens in a coach’s last four seasons in the NHL, it shifts from a possible coincidence to a genuine concern. What are some reasons why it is happening?

Well, for one, Tortorella’s teams play an incredibly taxing style. This season, Philadelphia has had to finish checks and get low to block shots to the tune of the second-highest rate in the NHL. He demands a lot out of his players. And, to his credit, it works for most of the season. He has a knack for having underwhelming on-paper rosters achieve solid records.

Once the 60 to 70 game mark hits, that’s where the wall begins. It’s just not feasible to play with this sort of energy over the course of five or six months. Thus, the downward trend starts. These trends can almost only be broken by superstars or those teetering on that title.

Honestly, it's not hard to figure this out. That it's not the players quitting.

Flyers have to win every game and everyone has to lose...they are out.

Now can NJ and Buffalo get 4 points and Seattle get 5 to jump ahead of them? That means fans would be happier, so that means the Flyers probably get 5 out of 6 points to hurt fans.

Would be nice to end up in the top 11 and have a shot for #1 via the lottery.

That's basically the ONLY thing that would make the summer exciting for the Flyers is if they had a itty bitty chance to get a top 3 pick and move up. If they don't then they better make a blockbuster trade that lands them some sort of young superstar.

I can't take another year like this. Even when they were winning I had the least amount of interest in the team ever in my life.
