“It’s just these young guys,” Okposo said during the Sabres’ locker cleanout. “They want to learn. In the NHL, we have a lot of different egos with a lot of guys that want things for themselves. We’re very fortunate on this team where if you were to pan to the bench when there’s a goal scored, everybody is genuinely happy for that person. And that’s not always the case.

Each player on the Sabres this season, from the youngest to oldest, has detailed how Okposo fostered an environment in which everyone felt comfortable to speak. The factions that existed in past years were eradicated once Okposo became the unquestioned leader of the group at the start of last season.

At 34 years old and 16 seasons into his NHL career, Okposo captained the Sabres to within two points of a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. His words of wisdom guided them through adverse times and his relentless work in games and practices was a beacon for a team filled with players under the age of 25.

“I think he’s been the best captain I’ve had," said Zemgus Girgensons, an alternate captain who has been with the Sabres since 2013. “He’s one of the guys that I look up to, and I think a lot of the success here is because of Kyle and the way he handled things. I think he held the team together, the times in need, he was always there. He’s a part that was huge for us.”

To be fair, he is kind of right. Fangio as the Bills DC would be an excellent career move for him. An Allen vs. Fangio matchup has been the closest thing to a "sure thing" in the NFL since 2019. He could avoid it that way.

Even though I do poop on him here as a bit of a schtick, I do think he's a good defensive coordinator. I just don't understand the aura around him. He's obviously earned the respect of a lot of people in this league by putting in his time, but people in league circles use that fact alone to put guys like him in the same conversation as guys like Parcells and Belichick when things like the win column indicate that it's not warranted.

I wasn't even necessarily talking about the layoffs. I was talking about the actual building of vehicles. I see a new story about the cybertruck breaking in a different way every other day, accelerator pedal covers coming off and wedging the pedal down full throttle, their special glass cracking in a small hailstorm while other cars near it had no issue, the wheel snapping off after a fender bender, driving a mile down the road after taking delivery and the screen flashes red "pull over" because they fücked up the steering, the "frunk" that can cut your finger off... and just general build quality of all Teslas, shipping cars with visible cracks in major castings, misaligned body panels, not to mention all the auto-pilot problems
