This right here is why people are going insane. They have no idea when/if it will ever happen again. They have some of the missing ingredients from 2014 along with elite goaltending. If they don't do it this year it feels like it won't happen until after we're dead. - JRR1285
I think they had better forward depth in 2014. Probably better blue line depth this year. Goaltending is equal. |

Sure, but I would say it is close. But they lacked the top 6 punch they have this year, it's not even close. |

They had no real game breakers in 2014. More star power the better chance to win. Fox Panarin Zib (when on) kreider of now better than mostly any fwd on that team then

I'm being serious because this team really only has 5 forward that put the puck in the net..
Panarin, Trocheck, Laf, Kreider, Zib is probably better than Nash, Stepan, Kreider, Richards, MSL.
but the Brassard, Pouliot, Zucc, Haglen is better than Cuylle, Wennberg, Kakko Roslovic. (And I dont think this gap is close either) |

I would say Laf and Trocheck as well. It's kind of insane.
I would take this forward group over 2014 any day. |

this offense is a lot better than 2014 Finals team
Callahan was having a pretty mediocre season until he was traded for MSL, MSL didn't score at all final games of reg season and then was really good in playoffs

I remember somebody telling me that Brad Richards was so ineffective by the 2014 finals that AV should have been fired for playing him vs the Kings |

Yeah, but if the bottom 6 can tread water I think they have the right ingredients. Flawed teams do win it all. Panarin is unreal and can carry them. Zib is capable of it too. Fox just needs to be Fox. |

The Richards debacle really messed me up. I was a huge fan of his and so excited to see him sign here. Was gifted his jersey and everything. He was mostly awful. |

MSL was also 38 then.
Panarin kreider Zib fox and tro all have more than 70 points this year. Well zib with 69 should get there.
You need game breakers to win. My concern with this team is their level of compete to win and their style in the PO. |

The Panarin line is the best line this team has ever had probably. It’s mostly, by my estimation, how much mika and his band of misfits contribute at 5v5 |

I mean it's no debate, this current team runs circles offensively over the 2014 team |

Yea the bottom 6 was better. I do think Roslovic would look way better on the 3rd line than the top line. Kakko not taking that next step on the 1st line could plague them in the PO. That IMO is the only glaring weakness in the fwd group

The 3rd line needs to start putting the puck in the net. That is why they 2014 made it to the cup.
1 or more guys on all 3 lines was going. MSL on Line 1. Kreider on line 2. And of course PBZ line. |

I still think the lockout season messed him up, while all those guys were playing in Europe, he wasnt playing and was back here as part of the negotiation team
he just wasn't the same player after that, he just got old quick |

Come PO time I think cuylle wennberg and kakko will be very good. North south line that hopefully scores some dirty area goals

I think they need to put Kakko there the last 3 games. He is good enough, not sure why it all goes to poop when he's on the top line.
