the isles, and this isnt a dig, were irrelevant just like the rangers were during my childhood fandom. they didnt win a playoff round for 20 years. they were in the misery just like we were. i can deal w/ the isles people i know the devils i can't

I have an irrational hatred for the Islanders. Seeing them win a championship in my lifetime would taint any Rangers accomplishments before and/or after.

Until about 89/90 I didn't pay close attention to hockey. That was when my buddy, who is a Rangers fan, could buy beer. That's when I really started watching games at his place and found my team. That question would be the Devils for me and I grudgingly would have to say yes.

That was the one and only time I rooted for the Eagles only because I hated the Patriots more.

I grew up 2 hardcore Devil fans as my core best friends. So they would always give me poop. From 2000-2012. The only break I got was 2008. I'd rather cut off might right arm then make the deal Chief proposed if you sub the Devils for the Islanders.

I think for long time fans like myself, Jan, Murdoch, etc the utter hatred was the Flyers for us

The Islanders was more a case of we just couldn't beat them no matter what we did and then that utter beatdown in round 1 of 1994 got all that frustration out we had built up over the years

but I'll always hate the Flyers the most
