No 5v5 goals against.

Even though the last two periods the rangers carried the play if you can stay out of the box you can beat them

Welp, Saturdays game is gonna be interesting.

And…you can’t tell me Pelech didn’t linger there for a second for a reason.

I'm sure Rumpy will be playing.

I just saw that Jack Hughes is having season-ending shoulder surgery on April 10th, so the Isles won't have to play against him next Monday.

Have to beat the habs and devils and that should get them in. Due to tiebreaker they have to win based on points

Every time I look at the replay of the collision between Pelech and Zibanejad, it's obvious that both players were looking at the puck and not where they were going. Laviolette is either blind or he's just using it to motivate his players for the game on Saturday.

Pelech was not even looking at Zibanejad. It's doubtful Pelech targets another player's head after the concussions he suffered. I guess Pelech and Dobson are the new Broad Street bullies. Lavy could be trying to motivate his players as well.

Yeah it was pretty obvious there was nothing intentional on Pelech’s part or Zibanjed’s for that matter if Pelech were injured. Neither player saw each other till it was too late. Great that they hung on but wow that was two periods of domination on the Rangers part.

Looking more and more like a Canes rematch which I want nothing to do with. Much rather play Rangers in the first rd if we make it in…

Laviolette going off on that has to be one of the absolute dumbest things I've ever heard an NHL coach say. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was just trying to rile his team up, but it was so exceedingly dumb that I can't stop laughing about it even today.

This is when the NHL turns into the WWE. Lavy is going to play Rumpy and try to start nonsense.

I think Keaner's observation was correct that Laviolette has really "packed on the pounds." And most of those fat cells have gone to his brain.

Laviolette being Laviolette. I remember him continuing to refer to Claude Girioux not by name but as "The best player in the world" when talking to the media during the Flyers/Pens series around 2012 or so. He knew Giroux wasn't near that good but did it to become a sideshow and maybe piss Crosby off. He's clearly pulling some gamesmanship knowing they have a follow-up game on Saturday and potential playoff series to boot.

As for the hit, people focusing on a narrow frame of just Pelech and Zibanejad will see Pelech seemingly stop in Mika's path while Mika also seems to slightly turn into Pelech. A wider view shows that Pelech is holding his position at the redline watching a puck transition.

It's pretty unprofessional of Laviolette to insinuate it was an intent to injure or 'vicious' hit.

The Rangers fans saying "that's okay, Rempe is coming"....uhhhhh, so what? So we'll get a slightly tilted/draw fight with him and Martin....everyone will yawn and go back to the game.

I can see why Lavy's act wears thin pretty quickly. The Rangers are a top team, and he needs to play games to motivate them?

The last thing Rempe needs are even my fights and shots to his head.

I'm not even sure Martin should fight the younger, bigger Rempe. There's nothing to be gained. And Martin has become one of the most dependable defensive forwards on the team. He leads the team's forwards in +/-. On the other hand, Rempe possesses no obvious hockey skills.

I agree and MM should not have fought him the 1st time. Kid has to earn his way up to fight MM.

I guess the Rangers and their fans haven’t noticed Rempe isn’t a very good fighter and we have guys on our roster who can fight? We aren’t exactly them a few years back with the Wilson rag doll situation. I’d rather not see fighting to be honest but to think Rempe scares anyone on our roster is laughable.

Rempe is letting dopey fans and dopey hockey people egg him on to keep fighting. They made him a star and he is hooked on fighting now.
